This is America, land of the free. This is the land of the golden wheat field and rolling green meadow, a land richly blessed. This, too, is the land of state fairs, watermelon, foot-long hot dogs, cotton candy, and football games. America has been generously endowed with a great heritage. It is a heritage which has given us much to be proud of: a govern- ment of the people, a government that insures the dignity and worth of its citizens. I am an American. I am one of many who can be called America's greatest natural resource. I have come to America from different parts of the world in search of a better life. And, like many, I have come to know America as the country which offers just that. I know, too, that, as a young American, I have only to take what is offered in education and vocational training. It is for these reasons that I, like all Americans, am proud to be able to say freely, America is my country.
