Our class, the Class of 1958, entered CHS as scared and innocent fresh- men in September. 1954. We were tortured and abused hy the heartless upperclassmen in the famed Freslnnan Day. Although we did not win Stunt Night that year. the queen came from the Freshman Class. Neither did we win the Nlagazine Drive. hut one of our homerooms was given a trip to the lce Capades in Raleigh for heing the high homeroom of the school. This trip was our first one affiliated with Goldsboro High School. As Sophomores the taliles were turned . . . now it was our turn to tor- ture the underclassmen. During that year. our second one at GHS. the Biology classes left at the crack of dawn for Florida. There we spent five of the -most memoralile days of our lives. Then came our jolly junioru year. Our class walked away with all of the honors of the school. We won the Magazine Drive and Stunt Night and had the most lieautiful Junior-Senior everl This year. as Seniors. we have lionght and sold everything from calling Cards to pansies. Our last year is not yet over. and now we are thinking ttWil1 previous successes spoil the Senior Class? ln the years to come, many times in the course of conversation some one will say. IV' A L5-1 'T ,Q oftde Wafwrtq ' Z9 Wheii the score stands against me, and there seems little chalice to Win, when there is a Whole half to play, and I am hot and tired and sick at heart. then I pray, Divine Comrade, for strength to play the game. It is easy enough to play when I am winning, when I feel fresh and there are no odds against meg but when things are going Wrong and I am tempted to Cheat, to gamble, or to quit, then I need Thy help. I Want to take life as a game and play it fair and hard. To do this, I need some strong leader, so I pray that Thou will always he with me. WIIGII I am cowardly or tired, or baffled, give me the sense that Thou art hy my side, telling me how to plan my Way and giving me the Courage to keep on. Be with me in the contests of today and all through life's courses. Amen. 7955 Wwwdq 6ZaZ5weez'4ewat mu mu, mad 7957 Z 7442 77575 feccvwi Goldsboro. Goldsboro, Goldsboroh ,o...
