JACK BURRLJSS, Testator WITNESSESZ Corn, E. Stuff Tl'll2DUl3I'l Tl-IE YEARS lt's been four long and wonderful years and we now find ourselves all ready for Pomp and Cir- cumstance, lvlakes you sorta sick inside, doesn't it? Do you remember in '47 when we first walked the halls of G, l-l. S? Flow you felt like a little flea on a big dog? lf it had not been for our fine class officers the struggle would have been terrific. As every class faces the problem of money we also had our share of the worry, but we quickly spon- sored a Queen and King contest. The price of a penny a vote soon raised the dollar mark with Ed Bass and Nancy l-lamil reigning over our Freshman social. After three months of the usual summer fun we, the class of '5l, got back into the school swing. Now, we had someone to be our underdog. Therefore, we were quite pleased to be in charge of Freshman Week, As a means for raising money an auction was held in February with Coach Doak as head auctioneer, Everything from hairpins to pineapple cakes was sold that day, Our Junior year? Well, you know how it isll Upper classmen and all i . , We sponsored the l-lalloween Festival for the school This included a cake walk, dancing, fortune telling, House of Flor- ror, and prizes for various costumes. A small killing was made which went toward money for our Junior-Senior, Don't think our class isn't great. Who led in the magazine drive that year? You're so absolutely right . , . For our Junior-Senior, The Return of the Vagabond was presented and was quite a success We also took part in the stunt night sponsored by the N, l-li S. The circus theme was used including elephants, tightrope walkers and such, Always clowning around. Well, everybody, who is anybody, knows that we had the best Junior-Senior this town had ever seen. They wanted our decorat- ing for big time Broadway, We ended the year by ordering our class rings. You lowly piece of filth' '... Oh yesl We are Seniors now, That was one of the better members speaking to a Junior. This being our last chance to make our mark at G, l-l, S, each of us welcomed the arrival of our class rings which at last made us realize that we were mighty Seniors. Our Senior play, Distant Drums, followed this and was really a performance. lt revealed the hard trials endured by our forefathers. There will never be a class day as ours was All of us trying to belhappy when we knew it was so close ,to the end. T it '17 tl F , , 669645 Q, ,Li T, 'af' X i xi ffff 1-up 9 5 s fa, f we g .
