The players at home and in visiting games proved to spec- tators that a four-year old school with determination and coaching can put it all together and come up with a team that knows the meaning of teamwork no matter what town they come from. The Bulldog varsity team ended the season with a League record of six wins and five losses, while coming out only one game behind in their season record. Their last win of the scheduled season was the Bulldogs' biggest margin victory when they led over the Herndon Beavers 84 to 38. But the game that probably made everyone-- Coach Donald Sloan, players, teachers, students and townspeople--the happiest was the exciting battle with Brewster that advanced Golden Plains toDistrict finals and on into the State Regional Tourn- ament at Goodland. The Bulldogs also finished third in the Northern Division of the WKL Tournament with their two victories over Hern- don and Edson. Top scorer for the season was JohnBlack with afinal total of 199 points in league points. He was nom- inated to the All-League Team fpictured on page 415, Steve Shaw was high in rebounds with a season total of 164 points. Steve received honorable mention in the All-League Team. The young team members, fa Sophomore being the average age of all the players! say that 1972 was a good year and with spirit, drive, and ability, 1973 can be even better.
