THE NUGGET1930 QN' GOLD HILL. HISCHOOL THANKSGIVING PROGRAM For the Thanksgiving Program the grader pupils put on a pageant about the Pilgrims leaving Holland. The High school1girl's Glee Club was represented by singing incidental songs during the pageant. The Orchestra played two selections which were very good. Alarge crowd attended the program. FRANCES E. WILLARD PROGRAM On Frances E. Willard Day, October 25, a program was held in the auditorium. Several talks were given including a biographical sketch and a speech of President Hoover's about Frances E. Willard Day. The Girls Glee Club sang one number. ' RETURN PARTY The Freshmen gave a return party to the sophomores on January 3, to which the upper classmen and the faculty were invited. The party started at eight o'clock when they played games and then later some of those present danced. Refreshments consisting of sand-wiches and punch were servedg then more games were played. The party seemed to be a great success because it did not break up until after twlelve o'clock. 4-H CLUB A 4-H Club has been organized und-er the supervision of Mrs. Maude Robinson. Its aim is to improve health and posture, and it stands for Health, Hand, Heart and Happiness. Its 27 members pass an examination at the beginning and end' of the term. The 4-H Clubs are sponsored by the State and by Oregon state College. The boy and girl having the highest number of points in an examination is awarded a trip tothe State Fair at Salem with all expenses paid. A certain per cent is based on neatness, and accuracy and how they fill out their blanks. Central Point and Gold Hill are the only schools in the county to organize a 4-H Club. The High School students that entered were Mildred Wyatt, Genevie Stumbo, and Ernest Kell.

The Orchestra is under the leadership uf Mr. Butts. There are eleven who have made a puhlic appearance although there are many more. The memhers and instruments they play are as fe-llmvs: Ruth Green, drums: Melvin Sargent and lleatriee llalmer, Saxuphunes: llill I'-lainmersly and Carl l'almer, Clarinets: Aileen Guy and Lucille XVheatley. Cnrnetsg Jeanne Hannnersly, Louise Smith, and lidith Duzenherry, Violins: and Lucille Hittle, Piano. The Orchestra played at most of the entertainments and at the Gold Hill Music Festival. They have shown much improvement during' the year and plan to have a First-class Orchestra next year. ,
