Of course, there was some strife between these new, unfamiliar pupils, and the very dignified Sophomores. The initiation came in October with many pleasing surprises for the Freshies, and, after this great event in the lives of these 20 people, though some had hurt feelings, none had swelled heads. This class gave the Sophomores a return party at Chisholm's mine on Evans Creek. In September of 1927, this class again came back, but a number of our last year members had dropped out of school. It was then their turn, to be dignified and they showed this by giving the Freshies a good natureld working over,i in October. i The Junior year this class consisted of IO members, all but one having entered High school at the same time in '26, The Junior class was well represented at the County Track meet by Lyle Childers, who carried- off four first places in track. This year, the Senior Year, the class still has 101116111- bers. Vera Clark, President, Carl Palmer, Vice-President: and Woodrow Shaver, Secretary. Lyle Childers, Carl Palmer, Vlfoodrow Shaver and jewel Quakenbush earned their letters this year in Basket ball, and we have fond hopes for Baseball. In order to keep the disgrace from Jack's wife, Mabel, and Jerry's Fiancee, Virginia, they tell them that they are going to a convention of Shriners. by boat. The scheme works and Mable and Virginia bid them a tearful farewell. In the second act the ladies have received Word from the steamboat company that Jack and Jerry are not to be found on board and have probably been washed overboard and drowned. THE INITIATIGN The Sophomores ran fourteen lively Freshmen through the gauntlet of initiaticn. The rooks were fed such dainty morscls as snails and apple-pie seasoned gen- erously with cotton. Due to lack of organization the ini- tiation was not as severe as the Sophomores had promised and no illfeffects were felt by those initiated. Mrs. Angstead played four years in Lakeview High School. and two years at the University of Oregon where she was on the All-Star team. The team appreciates the help which she has so willingly given and hope that she will act as coach again next year. I.UCII.Ll2 HITTLIQ-Lucille, Captain of this year's team, played forward. She was a steady and fast player and will be a great help to the team next year. JEAN CHISHOLM-Jean was the leading scorer for this year's team. This was Jean's first year on the team and she played hard. The team will be glad to have her next year because of her experience. MILDRIEID VVYATT--Mildred played side-center, and the team would have been weak without her. She was voted the most valuable player for this year. She will also be here for next year's team. RUTH GREEN-Ruth, a Freshman, played center and was a real center. She always got the tip-off because of her height . .She has three years ahead of her, and if she keeps on improving, she will be a great help to the team in the future. JIEXYEI. QUAKENHUSH-Jewel was a very good guard. but at the last of the year she was shifted to 'forw'ard,' a place that she hlled remarkably well. This is her last year, and she will be greatly missed next year. AILIEEN GUY--Aileen, another freshman, played guard. She played- hard, and her opponents had a hard time trying to score. NETTTIE STONE-Nettie, another freshman, played guard. She was out the latter part of the season on account of sickness, but she was very good at the first of the year and will be here for next year's team. THE N U GG ET 1930 N GOLD Hu.i.Ai-lsci-Toon.
