Backus. yi I On March 27, at the University of New Hampshire, the Goffstown High School Dramatics Club presented excerpts from THE WINSLOW BOY by Terence Rattigen, at the annual Drama Festival. The play is about a father, Tony Roy, who fights for the honor of his son, Arthur Batten, who has been accused of stealing a postal order. The father is as- sisted by his daughter, Jane Backus, a staunch supporter of women's rights, who, because of her actions, loses her boyfriend, Bob Paige. The remaining characters are a very busy and important lawyer, Alan Stevens, and a sympathetic mother, Ruth Hoitt. The play was directed by Mrs. Vivian Isquith and Mr. Louis Gardner. It was presented to the student body at an assembly before going into competition. Rehearsing For The Winslow Boy

Carnival The ball on Saturday night brought the carnival to an exciting end. A huge crowd attended and everyone had a wonderful time. The climax of the evening carrie when Colleen Burns and Anne Backus, queen and princess for 1958, crowned the 1959 queen and princess, Jane Backus and Patricia Kamieniecki. Magic Moments was chosen as the theme. The gym was decorated with pink and white streamers, while murals adorned the walls and the stage. The evening was climaxed when the faculty and school board chose a queen to reign over the dance. Jeani Dunsmore was crowned queen by her predecessor, Cynthia Katsekas. All who attended the prom will remember it as one of the most enjoyable dances ever held at G.H.S.
