CLASS HISTORY The Senior Class of '50 began school back in the school year of 1939-40. We were one of the largest classes ever to enroll at Gober Rural School. The new school building was completed the year we started school. It was one of the latest type of building. Our first teacher was Mrs. Lucy Vassar, a very kind and considerate person. After the first two years of school the class moved to a different room where we met a new teacher. This teacher was Mrs. Ella Warnell. When we reached the third grade another grade was added to the school thus making twelve instead of eleven and we were called fourth graders. As time went on, everyone passed and were again changed to another room. This time we were in the fifth grade. In sports, teams were organiied by the class in softball, basketball, and football. We played teams such as Ivanhoe and Wolfe City. In the year of 1946 our class graduated into high school. Mrs. Sarah Davis was our last grade school teacher. Our first year in high school was an experience never to be forgotten for it had it's moments of fun as well as work. The next year, everyone was excited because a new gym was under construction. Gober has always had good ball teams and some members of our class were on the squad that year. Our Junior year, members of the Bartley-Woods school enrolled at Gober because there were only ten grades in their school. We had a good basketball team that year and the boys won county. Two members of our class were on the main team. We had a successful Jr.-Sr. Banquet with everyone turning out for it. After the banquet we danced in the gymnasium. In our Senior year, we had three new teachers coming into high school with only two of the faculty remaining from last term. This, the Senior year, is always the best year. There isn't a Senior of '50 who will never forget the memorable moments we've had together. All the Seniors seem to agree that we've had more fun together than any other class could possibly have had. These are only brief sketches of our history but we hope you have enjoyed reading it as much as we have living it. COMMENCEMENTmC Stf v'r- .
