In 1956 we see Merle Clark busily tiying to keep Grady Jr. out of mischief. Junior Woodson has finally settled down and is trying to make a living for his ten children. Ira Nell Wigley—still waiting for Jimmie to finish college. Betty Biggerstaff is thinking that the situation is getting worse all time. Billy Warnell—wondering how he ever made that B+ in biology. Billy Thompson is typist for a news paper entitled The Chronicle. Mar jean Claxton is secretary for the president of the First National Bank at Gober. James Broiles has just signed up for work on the W.P.A. Herbert Baker—all star player on the football team at A M. Gene Buie—just graduated from West Point. Callie Mae Cooksey is an artist for a well known magazine. Junior Shive is aviator on a transport plane. Martha Turner is now playing boogie woogie in Carnegie Hall. (What am I saying?) Bobbie Jinks Carter is the typical farmer and he plays plays professional basketball on the side. Anna Grissom has just spanked all her kids and put them to bed.
