CLASS PROPHECY We spent the rest of the afternoon talkmg ow ex the many happy tlmes we had had back at our old home town and of the whereabouts of our re malnlhg classmates Jo as you can well expect had kept ln touch wlth all the members of the class and I learned very many lnterestlng thmgs about them from her I learned that Mary Blackburn was now chlef llbrarlan of the Con gresslonal Library and had also won the Academy Award for Chemlcal Research Tom Conwell was the scout leader of forty some boys ln Boston Massachusetts Harold Metzger was a prosperous farmer IH northern Iowa and was farmlng on a large scale Beatrlce Kall was the first woman audltor She was now audltlng books ln the Mlnneapolls Flour Mxll Leroy Kmsey was now a lleutenant who went to the Randolph Macon Mllltafy School at Front Royal Vlrglnla and Robert Kadrx was now the head prlnter of the New York Tr1bune As It was growlng late I returned to the hotel to get some rest before salllng As I passed by the desk I heard someone talklng to the desk clerk The voxce sounded famlllar I turned around and to my surprlse lt was another of my classmates Ray Kennedy He lmmedlately recog nlzed me and we began talklng He told me that he was now a Physlcal Fducatxon coach at Harvard Unlverslty and that Dean Mllls was a Sclence teacher ln the same college The next mornlng I phoned a taxl to take me to the boat A fine 1945 Ford drove up to the hotel and the drlver attxred ln a chauffer s unlform was none other than Wlllard Rlce He sand that he had been running the wheels off the Fords for many years I walked up the gangplank to my stateroom After belng there for a tlme I declded to take a stroll on the Class A deck The words H1 Kay greeted me and there stood Jon Homan He was captaln of the boat He was a radlo expert when he left Gnaden but his career had changed ment Jean Wrlght who was a Jltterbug Instructor had her class of thirty Jltterbugs perform for us As I looked over the crowd of spectators I spled Glenn Hamllton I went to talk to hlm and found that he too was on hls way to France to advance hlS muslcal knowledge He wanted to be an even better vlollnlst than he was now He saxd that Norwood Davldson was travellng Wlth hlm and that he was golng to study more French so that he could be a French teacher The next mornlng as I was strolhng down the deck I noticed a famxl lar figure It was Robert Klser He told me that even though he had broken h1s leg on Stocker s hxll while a Semor ln hlgh school he had taken up sknng and was now one of the champlon skners of the day He was on hls way to Swltzerland to practlce sknng durmg the next few months I was greatly pleased w1th the success wlth whlch the members of the class of 1940 had met and went forth on my Journey with a greater determlnatlon to succeed ID llfe WFIST SHOF C0 J R IYFIF Lhrichswille Ohio lhrlch xllle Ohio J S BFUK IPWFIFR 6 TAXI lhrichsville Ohio Uhrlchsxille Ohio . v .
