She has won the English Sophomore Medal, the Georgia Certificate of Merit, and the NCTE Writing A ward. Karen was a National Merit Com- mended Scholar. City Manager for the Youth in Govt. Day. and a Top 20 Homecoming Contestant. She was a Rotary Club Student of the Month and a senior superlative for Most Likely to Succeed. Karen has been a member of the Latin Club, the Y-Club serving as secretary and projects chairman, the Science Club serving os vice-president and co- president. the NHS. the NOISOK steering committee, a Special Olympics volunteer, and the United Methodist Youth Group. She has been on the tennis team and in the Science Dow I. Karen plans to attend Davidson College and major In psychology. STEPHANIE LANE was voted a senior superlative for Dest All Around Girl and as Exchange Club Student of the Month. She has received the Georgia Certificate of Merit and is a member of Who's Who. Stephanie has been in Student Council serving os Secretary Treasurer. FCA as the vice-president, the Science Club. NOISOK as the vice-president, the Latin Club, and NHS. Stephanie's fu- ture plans are to attend the Univer- sity of Texas at Austin or the Univer- sity of the South and major in low or psychology. DAVID YARBOROUGH has won the Outstanding Writing A ward, the Coaches Award in Baseball, the Chemistry A word, and the Georgia Certificate of Merit. STUDENT-FACULTY BASKETBALL GAME The student-faculty basketball gome was held March 13. 1936 in the Glynn Academy Gymnasium. We hod three cheerleaders who did on outstanding job. They were Tammy Putnam. Cissy Reyes, and Tammy Robinson. The five starters for the students teom were Dill Dig Mac” McDonald. Robert Isaiah” Thomas, Michael Mo goo” Diggs. Chris Tree” Parker, and Chris Twig” Andrews. Oth- er students that participated in the action were Trey Tub” Porker. Matt Deav” Dry ant: James Dird” Scahill, Richard Rambis” Ryals, Craig Checks” Thomas, and Seth Truck- er” Tucker. The two marvelous coaches were Dob Davis and Mike Waters for the student teom. For the faculty teom our five starters were Durnett Light- ning Rooks, David ”the Coach McKnight, Tom Skywolker” Schneider, Tony Your History” Etheridge, and Susan Thorny” Thornhill. The faculty also hod four other players. They included Louis the Repairman” May. David Octovious” Richey. Dorothy Mathematician” Stewart, and Dill the Dad Doy” Harrison. The coach for the faculty teom was David McKnight. At half-time, there was a slam-duck contest involving Tyrone T” Stephens, Robert Moose” Morris, and Jerome Scooter” Drown. The winner was Tyrone Stephens. The game was an exciting one, and most of all. we almost beat theml The final score was 62 to 56. Inner Club Council was the sponsor of the basketball game. 27

CASSANDRA OLIVER hos received the Delta Sigmo Theto Donee Award and hos been recognized by the Donee Makers of America. She hos also received several awards from the Debate Team. Cassandra hos been active in the Drama Club os a freshman, a Stu- dent Council representative as a sophomore, o member of the De- bate Team os a junior and serving os co-captain in her senior year. She is also a member of the Model Unit- ed Nations as a senior. Cassandra hos had twelve years dance expe- rience and is a former member of the Brunswick Civic Ballet. Her fu- ture plans are to attend either the University of the South or the Uni- versity of Georgia majoring in ei- ther low or communications. MIKE GHIOTO hos been the Rotary Club Student of the Month, on Eagle Scout, and Police Chief in the Youth in Govt. Day. He is a member of Who s Who and the Society of Dist. American High School Students. Mike's club activities have Included the FCA. the Catholic Youth Group, the Boy Scouts, and President of the Senior Class. He has been on the Golf Team for four years. Mike plans to attend the University of Georgia and major in business and pre-low. THERON JONES hos received the Georgia Southern Junior Minority Award, a National Merit Comman- do tion and was nominated for Gov- ernor's Honors twice. He was named a Notional Achievement Scholar, and Outstanding Block Scholar and was chosen for Who 's Who. Theron hos received a S1000 Mercer University Scholarship and an Honor Scholarship from the Uni- versity of Pittsburg. He also attend- ed the Georgia Tech MITE program for Outstanding blacks. He was ac- tive in the NIA Club and on the Math Team os a sophomore and junior, and joined the Latin Club os a senior. Theron Ployed football as a sophomore and freshman, and has played basketball all four years. His future plans are to attend either Georgia Tech or Duke, with a major in electrical engineering. He then plans to attend Duke Medical School. DANE GORDON has received sever- ol athletic a words Including Foot- ball Player of the Week and Base- ball Player of the Week. He was a member of the Coastal Empires First Team in football. Dane hos also been chosen os o candidate for Who 's Who. He was also voted by his class os Most Athletic. Done hos been a member of the Booster Club and FCA for four years and the For- eign Language Club for two years. Done hos ployed varsity boseboll all four years, varsity football for three years, and varsity basketball os a junior. His future plans ore to attend a college and major in busi- ness management. DARRELL WRIGHT has received the Glynn County High School's Poetic Writing Award. He hos been Most Valuable Football Player and hos won many Terrible Terror Football Awards. Darrell has been a mem- ber of the Foreign Language Club, the Model United Notions, and the NIA Club. Darrell's activities have included ploying varsity football for three years. JV and Varsity basket- ball. and JV baseball. He has also been a member of the Glynn Acad- emy Swing Choir. Darrell's future plans include attending college and majoring in physical therapy. 29
