The Red and White and has participated in the science bowl Alyson’s awards include 1st place in L- Allegro Poetry contest and 1st place in the BJC Literary Exhibit — Poetry division. Governors Honors finalist. Rotary Club Student of The Month. UGA Cert, of Merit. Presbyterian College Jr. Fellow. All A honor roll. GA Tech Distin- guished Math Scholar. Spanish award, excellance award in Adv. American History. Honors English, and Zoology. 1st place local history-Social Sci- ence Fair. Society of Distinguished American High School Students and Who's Who. She has also participated in the Special Olympics. Ameri- can Cancer Society. March of Dimes and St. Judes Childrens Hospital. Alyson plans to major in Banking. Carolyn V. Mays participated in Basketball, track, cross country and softball. She was a reporter for HEROII club. Asst, secretary to Chorus Club. NIA Club and participated in the Social Science Fair. Among her honors are A-B honor roll. Who's Who. Basketball and track awards, player of the week and best team leadership. She plans to ma- jor in Pharmacy. She is also President of the Youth Council at Church and is also a member of the Church Choir. Alisa Franklin was a member of the NHS. Y-Club. ISSS. Science Club. Marching Band in which she was a majorette captain, and the comcert band in which she was the flute section leader. She was a nominee for Governor's Honors. She also made the A-B honor roll. Alisa plans to attend GA Southern and major in secondary education. 1985 OUTSTANDING SENIORS OUTSTANDING SENIORS 1985 OUTSTANDING SENIORS Steve Thompson was a member of the Tennis team in which he lettered 4 years. He was also a member of the Science Club. Latin Club and NHS. He attended Boy state, recieved GA Certificate of Merit, chosen to Who 's Who and received the GA Tech Distinguished Science Scholar. He was also a Governors Honors nominee and made A A -B honor roll. He was elected Most Likely to Succeed by the senior class. Steve plans to at- tend UGA and then go to Medical School to become a doctor. James Gilbert was a member of the Science Club (treasurer-4). Y-Club (Chaplain-4). FCA. IRC. Student Council and participated in the Science Bowl. He was chosen to Who's Who and National Honor Roll. He is also President of the Medical Explorers Club. James plans to go to college and eventually become a pediatrician. He is a member of the Baptist Church. Wade Murray was a member of the Tennis team. NHS (treasurer). Science Club, and FCA. He re- ceived the UGA Certificate of Merit. Who s Who. and Society of Distinguished American High School Students. He was also a Governor's Hon- ors nominee and made A-B honor roll. Seniors '85 Emily Curry was a cheerleader for three years in which she was co-captain of the Varsity squad. She was a member of the NIA club and was elect- ed Sweetheart Queen her Junior year and Home- coming Queen her Senior year. Emily plans to attend Georgetown University or Howard Univer- sity in Washington D C. She is a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church. John M. Pruett was a member of the Debate team. NFL. Junior Classical League. Science Club. Medical Explorers Club and NHS. He was chosen to Who's Who. Society of Distinguished Ameri- can High School Students and received the UGA Certificate of Merit. John plans to attend college. Richard Watkins was a member of the Foreign Language Club. Science Club. Medical Explorers Club (post VP of Administration). Band. Orches- tra and the NIA Club. Among his honors are the Martin Luther King Jr. Award. NIA Achievement Award and A B honor roll. He plans to attend Oakwood College and major in laboratory tech- nology and theology and minor in music. He is a member of the Junior Deacan Church and the Community Symphony in which he plays the pi- ano. cello, trumpet and organ. 1985 OUTSTANDING SENIORS 1985 OUTSTANDING SENIORS 1985 OUTSTANDING SE Susmitha Bellam was a member of the Science Club (secretary). Math team. Debate team. NHS and she participated in the Science Bowl. She was a Governor's Honors finalist and National Merit semi-finalist. Her honors include A A-B honor roll. UGA Certificate of Metit. GA Tech Math Scholar. Who’s Who and Society of Distinguished American High School Students. She plans to go to college and major in engineering. She is also a hospital volunteer. Michael Hummel was a member of NHS and the Drama Club in which he served as VP. He was a Governor’s Honors nominee and a National Merit Scholarship semi-finalist. He received the UGA Certificate of Merit. Michael plans to attend the Savannah College of Art 8 Design and major in commercial art. He is currently a member of the Island Players. Karen Wright was a member of the NIA Club (VP). Latin Club. Band and Student Council (Sr. Class Secretary). She was elected Freshman Sweetheart Queen and was one of the top 10 Homecoming contestants. She has also made A-B honor roll and won I si place at the Social Science Fair. Karen plans to attend UGA and major in business administration. She is a member of the Zim Baptist Church. She also practices ballet and piano.

Seniors ' Wally Bryan was a member of the Y-Club. Science Club. NHS and the Math team. He also participat- ed in the Science Bowl. Among his honors are the 6A Certificate of Merit. Who’s Who. Society of Distinguished American High School Students and A A-B honor roll. Wally plans to attend UGA and major in business administration and man- agement. He is a member of MYF at St. Simons United Methodist Church. Janet Leavy was a cheerleader in which she was captain her senior year. She was a member of FCA. NHS and Student Council where she served as Executive Board Parliamentarian and Senior Class President. She received awards from Who’s Who. Society of Distinguished American High School Students and made A A-B honor roll se- ceral times. She was elected Best All Around by the senior class. Jan plans to attend UGA and major in retail merchandising. She was a member of the Pirates of the Spanish Main and is currently a member of the Episcopal Young Churchmen. Shannon Watson was a cheerleader for two years, a member of FCA (president-4) and a member of the Y-Club. ICC and Student Council where she served as Executive Board Secretary and Sr. Class Vice-president. She was a Governor’s Honors nominee, received the UGA Certificate of Merit, chosen for Who’s Who and Society of Distin- guished American High School Students. She also made A B honor roll. Shannon plans to attend The University of The South and major in biology. 1985 OUTSTANDING SENIORS 1985 OUTSTANDING SENIORS 1985 OUTSTANDING SE Tyra Warner was a member of NHS. Science Club and Student Council. She was elected Most Likely to Succeed by the senior class. She was a representative at Hugh O'Brien Youth Foundation Leadership Seminar and an Outstanding Student Council member her Junior and Senior year. Tyra plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and study business administration and manage- ment. David Lewis was a member of the Science Club (VP). ICC (pari.). NHS. Y-Club. Math team and participated in the Science Bowl. He was a Gover- nor’s Honors semi-finalist. Presbyterian College Junior Fellow. Received the UGA Certificate of Merit. GA Tech Distinguished Science Scholar. National Society of Distinguished American High School Students and Who's Who. David also plays in the church league basketball team and coaches a county league team. He plans to attend Auburn University and major in fisheries allied agriculture. Curtis Manning was vice-president and presi- dent of NHS. He attended Boy's State and was a member of Student Council. Curtis was elected Best All Around by the senior class and made A B honor roll. Curtis plans to attend University of the South.
