You can judge one’s mood by the expression on their face. 6 7 THE ULTIMATE Have A Joke And A Smile Joking is an amusing way to exhibit interior thoughts. 11 The Philosophy of the Face No one can resist the philosophy of the face. It’s the only part of the body that no one can replace. The method of containing, or letting feelings out. Or showing those expressions explaining what life’s about. It’s uniquely molded to offer a simple smile. Those little things of life that push an extra mile. Although providing many features and taking up empty space. This of course is what we consider a very prestigious honor. We feel that one teacher has sacrificed a lot of his time to make our high school lives operate more smoothly on several different occasions. He has been actively involved in many events that we as students have taken for granted. Such things as taking up tickets at sport events, chaperoning school dances, getting dunked at the Halloween carnival, and kissing a pig are those tasks going beyond the call of duty that he has performed. His method of firm teaching is not only unique, but to those who have had him before in a class can appreciate the vast amount of education he has pro- jected. Being a courteous man in and out of the classroom, this teacher deserves to be congratulated in every manner. That is why, we the class of 1982, bestow this honor of dedication to ... Once a year, the seniors of both Glynn Academy and Brunswick High have a chance to experience what it’s really like to be mature and act old for a day. Youth in Government Day is when senior students, elected by their peers, take the places of the city officials for a day. There are many places to be filled, such as; Mayor, Police, and Fire chief, city manager, public works, and city commissioner. The day is filled with excitement and decisions. All of these students were shown all of their particular official’s offices. Who knows, maybe they learned a lot. At Glynn Academy, we celebrated big time. Everyone was encouraged to wear a yellow ribbon, the symbol that everyone was praying for the hostages. To really show our appreciation for the hostages, we got out the old clapper and rang the G.A. bell 52 times. This was a special event at Glynn Academy and will be a memo- rable event for years to come. From Rags To Riches! Glynn Academy is transforming an old worn out parking lot into a multi million dollar Gym. It should be through by bas- ketball season in 1983. Its floor plan in- cludes separate dressing facilities and is going to be large enough to seat as many as Brunswick High’s. Planned by the Glynn Academy Athletic Department, this gym has been in the planning stage for many years and the Glynn Academy Campus will welcome this needed addi- tion with hopefully a winning season and a standing ovation!!!!!! Many student and teachers were turned down for one rea- son or another, but we still managed to contribute 145 pints of blood. We once again beat Brunswick High by over 10 pints. Stud. Fac. The newspaper staff has worked hard to produce monthly papers which have always proved to be of good quality. The Red and White kept the student body informed of events and happinings of the school. It also served as entertainment, which was evident with the “Car of the month.” Not only was it informative and entertaining, but also allowed student writers to assemble and express themselves. Truely, the staff is to be commended for their hard work. The success of the Red and White was made possible through the guidance and leadership of their advisor, Linda Wright. The Student Council was made up of people chosen by the Student Body. They had to work hard to become a member. They listened to the complaints of the students and strove to accomplish their needs and wishes. Their goal was to help the student body and to make it one of the best years at Glynn Academy. The Glynn Academy Chorus under the direction of Mr. Stripling presented a variety of exciting programs this year. Their objective was to promote interest in and appreciation of this particular type of entertainment. Sharing what they enjoyed, the talented group of singers prepared their annual concerts and did excellent shows each time. This year the chorus seemed to have a lot of spirit and was enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Mr. Stripling for serving as director! Concert Choir as they perform “Amahl And The Night Visitors”. Annual Staff Mrs. Blanton; Advisor Kathy Fraser; Asst. Editor Glen Dewberry; Editor r7'd± E. Griffin; Typist D. Miller. C. Meadows. T. Dennard. P. Vicent, K. Klingler; Photographers The Glynn Academy Annual Staff not only had a lot of fun producing the annual, they had a lot of work. Their work ranged from selling ads to meeting deadlines. To become a member of Annual Staff, it was necessary to fill out an application which was examined by Mrs. Blanton, who chose the new members for the upcoming year. The High Tide staff worked to the best of its abilities to produce a yearbook full of events, honors, sports and clubs — and let’s not forget people! But more importantly, they worked to produce a book of memories to be treasured by each student at Glynn Academy; expressions that will last forever. Sports (L to R). R. Forbes. D. They have been well designed, carefully manufactured and quality checked to be certain they are doing the job expected of them. We attribute this success to our skilled, professional employees. Our employees have designed and built some of the most efficient utility boilers ever produced and the related equipment which has helped us maintain our position as a leader in the energy field. To hold this competitive position, we must continually attract motivated employees by providing job challenge, opportunities for personal advancement, and rewards for performance. That’s why Babcock Wilcox provides both internal and external educational programs. Since 1956 when our Aid-to-Education Program was established, more than $3 million in scholarships and grants has gone to worthy students and colleges. In 1981 alone, we distributed $207,000 to schools and students. We believe that education is not an experience which begins with the first grade and ends with graduation.
