CLASS 49 HISTDHY A few score and some years ago We brought forth upon this campus A new class — Dedicated to the proposition that Anyone can learn — Even us. We have learned a great deal from books, (lasses, instructors, and otherwise. In our Freshman year, we were steered by Caroline Krauss, Johnny Patha, and Bobby Morriss. Even though we were very shy and typically verdant as Freshmen, we received an overdose of the much dreaded Glynn Academy initiation. Despite all the grease, lipstick, soap, syrup, peroxide, and shoe polish a swell time was had by all; much to the chagrin of our teachers and parents. During our Sophomore year, when we had mustered more courage, we were captained by Eddie Dykes, Jack Conyers, Caroline Krauss, and Jane Krumrine. That October we witnessed the hurricane. Terrible as it was, we didn’t mind, for we missed two days of school (which we had to make up later). We tried to demonstrate the real Glynn Academy spirit to our Freshmen. There was not the first evidence of lipstick, soap, or shoe polish on the campus. (Now, hence- forth and forever hazing will be banned on our campus.) When we were Juniors, we were skippered by Nick Mavromat, James Fiveash, Johnny Patha, and Caroline Krauss. In May, we gave the Senior Class a supper- dance at St. Simons. It was a most enjoyable occasion, but we were constantly thinking how much we would delight in being the honorees one year hence. Thanks to pilots Upchurch and Cannon. The Senior year arrived when we were men and women of the world, led by Lowell Kepp, Nick Mavromat, Caroline Krauss, and Bobby Morriss. In Decem- ber, we attended the Christmas Formal at Wood Gymnasium, sponsored by the Student Council. In May, our annual Class Night Variety Program was given, presenting the versatile abilities of our talented class members. Thanks we owe to Mrs. Bunkley and Mrs. Ihley. Miss Macon, gratefully we were yours. Baccalaureate and graduation in May brought to a close our four years of travel through the halls of learning. Whatever toe do, the class of ’49 zvill Little note nor long remember xuhat We write here — But we can never forge what We did here.
