HISTORY OF In September 1958, a lively group of bright- eyed youngsters entered Glouster High School. As Freshmen, they were the underdogs, and were bullied by the upperclassmen. However, they managed to survive, and elected as officers: Marilyn Richards, President--a position she retained three years, Dianna Ferry, Vice-Presidentg Carolyn Col- bert, Treasurer--a position which she retained through high school. Several of the boys braved the tiring practice sessions to join the football team, and Gary Duncan earned a letter. Marilyn Richards was elected Homecoming Attendant. Sophomore elections gave us two new officers: Ron Yerian, Vice-President and Paul Harrison, Secretary. Miss Mabel LeFever was class advisor, and has continued in that capacity through the re- maining years. Again the boys went out for foot- ball, and again, Marilyn was homecoming attendant. Patti Vore, Carolyn Colbert and Marilyn Richards were elected reserve cheer- leaders. Patti and Carolyn later became varsity cheerleaders. Thas year, The Reserve Basketball Team, com- posed of: David Brunton, Craig Ginnan, Virgil Guf- fey, Paul Harrison, Norman Lowery, Ken McClellan and George Williams, won the M. V. L. reserve championship . The Junior year was devoted primarily to money-making activities. Janie McGee be- came Vice-President and Jean Gatchel, Secretary. The class play, The Little Dog Laughed, was a success although it necessitated new stage curtains as the result of a mishap. Patti Vore became majorette, and the next year, Head Majorette of the band. Carolyn Colbert was homecoming attendant. Class rings were ordered and finally arrived after everyone was sure they were lost in the mail. THE CLASS OF 1962 Nine members of the class were tapped for membership in the National Honor Society: Carolyn Colbert, Marilyn Richards, Karen Eveland, Karen Dugan, Tim Teater, Paul Harrison, Janie Mcgee, Jean Gatchel, and Ron Yerian. Karen Eveland and Tim Teater have since transferred to other schools. Carolyn Colbert and Paul Harrison were Glous- ter's representatives to Girls' and Boys' State sessions. May arrived with a shower of magnolia blos- soms from the Junior-Senior Prom, which had for its theme, Under the Magnolias. lt was beautiful and everyone felt it was well worth the many hours of work that went into it. Janie McGee was chosen Queen and Tom Roback, Senior, King. Finally our long-awaited Senior year arrived. One goal was the financing ofthe traditional Senior trip. Another was the production of the annual. And, of course, we were looking toward that day when we should receive those coveted diplomas. Outstanding football player was Gary Duncan. Patti Vore was elected Homecoming Queen and Agnes Swaro, Senior Attendant. Seniors who retained places in the band through high school were: Patti Vore, Mary Carter, Karen Dugan, Paul Conway, Paul Harrison and Lynwood Henderson. ln a few short weeks, we shall have attained most of our goals. Our Senior Play, Home, Sweet Homicide, will have been produced, we shall have returned from the Senior tripg and with the help of our advisor, other members of the faculty, and our parents, shall receive our diplomas. Then, as individuals, we shall take our places as adult members of society and hope to lead useful and successful lives in. the world of tomorrow.
