Dear Mr. Sparer, We would like to show our appreciation toward you, Mr. Sparer. After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree at Boston University and a Master’s degree at Boston College, you began teaching English here at Gloucester High in 1960. In your twenty-two years here, you have greatly contributed to the positive education of Gloucester youth. Your understanding of adolescence and sensitivi- ty toward students has always been a positive force here at Gloucester High School. We missed you a lot this year and will never forget all the great support you gave us. Love, The Class of 1983 91 Grace Figurido 1983 We, the class of 1983, proudly dedicate our yearbook to Mrs. Grace Figurido. As the Flicker advisor for the past ten years, her hard work and dedication has always produced a quality year- book that G.H.S. seniors could be proud of. Mrs. Figurido was the class advisor in 1974 and has continued to support actively all the senior classes at G.H.S. She teaches English with her own special flair that makes students look for- ward to her class. What senior could ever forget her infamous HAWTHORNE SEMINAR! We hope that we can continue the tradition of excellence that she has set for the “Flicker,” and that the 1983 edition will make her proud. THANK YOU! Mrs. Figurido, for all you’ve done. With captain Micke Powers as the only experienced player, the team struggled in the early part of the season, however, the development of sophomores, Kevin Blatchford and Mike King, junior Joe Iacano and seniors John Judd, Paul Scola, and Drew Muniz, enabled the Fishermen to be a much more co mpetitive team over the second half of the season. Sophomore Chip Smith, Junior Dexter Murray, and seniors Brian Colby and Dean Murray also made important contributions to the team.
