“
[o placidly amid the noise and the haste, md remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be; and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. Fouiui in Olfi Saint Paul ' s Ckuirh, Bahimorv. ila eil 1692 luwLu If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away. ... . ■i U f ■ xS 1 2 4 MR. Boh Dylan 212 ■ First I’d like to thank my assistants and my working staff for all the hard work that has been put into making this yearbook something to call our own. Most of my thanks goes to those who stuck by and worked until the yearbook wa.« comitleted. Those long ' ' imfjorlant Flicker meetings everyday” after school will not be forgotten. What we have experienced in our lives so far will reflect upon the futurt. ' . We still have a long road to travel. Our yearbook, representing a flicker in time, will serve as a symbol of our years at GHS and memories of our youth. Share with others, put the other guy first at least once in a while, live each second to the fullest, and above all be hapf)y. Those who strive to reach for that which is just a bit beyond their grasp, have placed meaning in their lives. Strive for what you believe in. Enjoy friends and be a friend. Remain peaceful. Yours with love, Sandy Madruga May you each. 215 DESIDERATA [o placidly amid the noise and the haste, rhd remember what peace there may be in silence. .As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and every where life is full of heroism. Ftmiul in Old Saini Paul ' % Church. BnUimorr, duird 1692 -X
