To the Members of the Graduating Class of 1955: You are among thousands of young men and women who will be graduating this year from hundreds of high schools throughout the country. Some of you will be continuing with your education in colleges, univer- sities, or other post secondary schools. Some of you will enter the service of your country. Some of you will become breadwinners. All of you will need to take part in solving problems as you live and have your being in the several communities. Education never ends. From cradle to the grave we all have call upon our past experiences to meet the needs of life. It is my hope that your past twelve years in the public schools have given you the skills, experiences, and the attitudes which will help you — To Be Effective Citizens in a Democracy. To Have a High Quality of Character and Moral Values. An Ability and Attitude to Think Critically. A Mastery of the Basic Facts in Skills that will help you to become Self-Directing Individuals, as well as Contributing Members of Society. Keep your horizons high and broad.
