To the Members of the Graduating Class of 1955: You are among thousands of young men and women who will be graduating this year from hundreds of high schools throughout the country. Some of you will be continuing with your education in colleges, univer- sities, or other post secondary schools. Some of you will enter the service of your country. Some of you will become breadwinners. All of you will need to take part in solving problems as you live and have your being in the several communities. Education never ends. From cradle to the grave we all have call upon our past experiences to meet the needs of life. It is my hope that your past twelve years in the public schools have given you the skills, experiences, and the attitudes which will help you — To Be Effective Citizens in a Democracy. To Have a High Quality of Character and Moral Values. An Ability and Attitude to Think Critically. A Mastery of the Basic Facts in Skills that will help you to become Self-Directing Individuals, as well as Contributing Members of Society. Keep your horizons high and broad. May you be afraid to die until you have won a victory for Hu- manity. Sincerely, L. Munro Grandy, Superintendent of Schools. I congratulate the members of the Class of 1955 upon reaching this important milestone. High School graduation marks the end of a very important phase of your progress. The only bond that is common to every member of this class is the fact that you are graduates from Gloucester High School. I hope that this bond will become stronger and stronger as the years go by and that you will always keep a warm spot in your heart for G.H.S. Sincerely, J. Stanley Thompson, Assistant to the Superintendent.
