TO THE CLASS OF 1954 A job half done is a waste of time, and a lesson half learned is a wanton shame. Graduation is not a period, but a comma. Many of you will not again enter a for- mal classroom, but all of you will continue your education. Education is, in a way, a series of experiences which result in change, and so it is a process which continues from, and is based upon, the solid foundation you have built in your twelve years of school, so that it will be true and square rather than fumbling. Build upon what you know to be sound, and you will build well. May we who have worked with you for four years congratulate you upon your past accomplishments, and welcome you to the new opportunities your graduation will re- veal. If we can help you further, we will feel it a privilege. Good luck in all that you undertake. Arthur N. Smith, Principal Congratulations and best wishes to the members of the Class of 1954. I trust that the years you have spent at Gloucester High School have been happy as well as profitable years for you. Your school will be keenly interested in watching your progress after you leave us. Make us proud of you. Sincerely, J. Stanley Thompson Vice-Principal

s 1(S She’s aye, aye sae blythe, sae gay, She’s aye so blythe and cheerie; She’s aye sae bonnie, blythe and gay, O gin I were her dearie!” Many years ago, Robert Burns wrote these lovely lines to a sweet and gracious High- land lady. Now, we the class of 1954, dedicate our effort, though its memory be more fleeting, to one whose charm and graciousness rival that of the Scottish lassie of long ago. To Rachel H. Pressey, so blythe and cherrie”, the Flicker of 1954 is sincerely and affec- tionately dedicated. 2
