This fall as we returned to school our new con- struction was in the final stages. Soon the stu- dent body was able to take advantage of the ex- pansions and additions made to our building. Eight new classrooms had been added, five in lo- wing and three in C-wing. The cafeteria was ex- panded and new lunchroom furniture was bought to accommodate the extra space. The boys’ locker room was also expanded making room for more lockers, new showers, and an exer- cise room. The library was enlarged to accommo- date many more books. A combination confer- ence and classroom was also added to the li- brary. The boys’ wood and metal shops were expanded; a new power mechanics and electron- ics shop was completed. For the Chippewa Villagers a new junior high art room was added along with a separate home economics room, and combination wood and metal shop. A new junior high principal’s office and a guidance office were also included. 6

He can be found in the fall organizing both the Cinematography Club and the Ecology Club. In the winter, you’ll find him directing a class for the One-Act Play Contest. He directed the class of 73’s Junior One-Act Play which won first place that year. In the spring, he is busy with the many preparations for Earth Week. His fantas- tic artistic ability is used to help make the many signs and posters displayed during this period. Along with this, he is actively helping his stu- dents with their science projects on display at the end of the year. Many of these student pro- jects have been entered in local contests and several awards have been won. He also possesses many attributes that cannot go without mentioning. He has a wonderful sense of humor that everyone who comes into contact with him will long remember. He is easy to get along with and work with as both teacher and advisor. He is truly dedicated to teaching his students in the field of Biology. A combination of all of these activities and attributes has made Mr. Gibbs a respected and loved teacher at GHS. For this reason, we, the staff of the 1973 Blue and Gold, dedicate our yearbook to a wonderful teacher and a really great guy, Mr. Paul M. Gibbs! i »
