SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE Education for the space age has received serious consideration by people in all avenues of life. Many contradictory suggestions have been made to improve the secondary school progress. There is only one sure foundation for the future. Develop all the talents of all the people and this nation will never lack any skill or technique to compete in the space age. David F. Brightbill Superintendent of Schools PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE Your class is graduating as the world is truly on the threshold of the space age. I am sure that the education and training that you have received at Gloucester City High School will help you to become responsible citizens and to contribute to the wel- fare and safety of our nation. As graduates you will have to make many important decisions among which will be the type and quality of education that will be offered in the community where you live. It is my hope that you will always remember your school and that you will work for its continued improvement. Ralph J. Bracken Principal 4

In today's modern world we are surrounded with talk con- cerning space, space travel, rockets and man-made satellites. They have become an important part of our daily lives. We live in con- stant awareness that in the not too distant future all of these scientific inventions will attain their ultimate goals. With each new discovery, man has come closer and closer to conquering the unknown. However, if man should conquer outer space, he will be faced with a great many problems along with a wealth of knowledge. It is our hope that he will use this knowl- edge as a peaceful means of solving the problems in forming a better world for tomorrow. Tomorrow, when we open this book, we hope it will bring to mind the old and conquered horizons and enlighten our way toward the new.
