5 7 13 Pope John Paul II I Am Truly Among Friends And I Feel Very Much At Home In Your Midst. Most Reverend George H. Guilfoyle Bishop Of Camden Most Reverend James L. Schad Aux. Bishop Of Camden Father Thomas McIntyre Superintendent Of Schools 16 With An Old Friend . . . A New Beginning We, the students of Gloucester Catholic, with love and appreciation for all you have done and are continuing to do for us, dedi- cate our yearbook to you. You are a constant source of inspiration and guidance, aiding us in our growth as young Christians- we will always be grateful. Father, your faith and trust have helped us realize our own potential in striving to be- come the best that we can-be— a credit to you, our families, and our school. 17 Father Joseph Martelli Father Martelli has enough gravity to be a good principal, while having enough sensitivity to be a friend, and overwhelming generosity and inspiration to keep the Gloucester Catholic spir- it alive. Father takes pride in getting to know the students and is always there to support our sports, plays and drives. Father Martelli’s office door is always open. Fle’s not only our principal, he’s our friend! Father Peter Sullivan Gloucester Catholic is a school trying to meet the academic, moral and social needs of a cross section of students whose abilities, interests and talents vary. Because of this diversity, a person in administration has to develop a wide range of skills. My job puts me in contact with seniors making plans for continued education, parents working on financial aid forms, teachers work- ing to improve the content of their courses and fellow administra- tors in discussing plans for changes and future growth. All in all, the diversity of tasks keeps my job very interesting. 18 Bernadette Barberi Typing I 8 Personal Typing. Steno I 8 II. 8 Secretorial Practice. Lisa will always remember the island and the 1982 New Year’s parade. Never fear shadows. They simply mean there is a light nearby.” Glenn Young Lisa Zappley Dear Graduates, As we come to the end of your years at Gloucester Catholic, and as we try to evaluate our successes and failures, I truly believe that we have much for which to be thankful. The genuine spirit of openness and the resulting growth that we all have experienced) the ever increasing sense of community coupled with greater individual awareness of the needs of others) the development of mutual concern and personal responsibility are but a few of the accomplishments brought about by good will and sincere effort on the part of faculty and students together. We must not. however, become complacent. The Holy Spirit is at work everywhere in the Church today. We, in turn, must be open to the same spirit as we prepare for the future. With Saint Paul, we must never cease to preach Christ, and we must bear witness with every fiber of our being to what we preach. This implies that no matter where we will go or what we will become, we must be, above all else, men and women of faith, prayer and dedication. Remember that you are Christians, and as followers of Christ, you should always heed the Church who speaks with authority in the name of Christ. Unless you do that, you will fall victims to the confusion of those who do not listen to sound teaching but, with ears itching, pile up for themselves teachers who suit their pleasure.” I hope that the training and academic efforts here at Gloucester Catholic have given you the ground work upon which to build your character and moral way of life. Ultimately, this, a character and responsibility will equip you to cope with the ever increasing demands on leadership in the modern world, and enable you to make a significant contribution to the renewal and vitality of the Church. I know you all can do it, with a little more desire, perseverance, sacrifice, and of course, the help of God. Wherever you go, whatever you do, always remember you belong to the family of Gloucester Catholic. Every good wish and prayer for all of God’s blessings. Fr. Their record wasn’t great but according to Mr. Icavove: 1982 was a very enjoyable year. Although our record was not what we had hoped for, I must say the year and the players were a pleasure. Both in good times and bad the team never waivered. Their attitude and hard work made this year one of the finest that I have ever had. Besides the team spirit some individuals made the season brighter even with the re- cord such as Mike Laudiso who made All South Jersey. G.C. Others went ail out by streaking their hair with dye in colors such as purple and green. There were many highlights to the evening, but the main event of the night was the appearance of Otis Day and the Nights”.
