A Tribute to Daddy A little boy, hi« father's pride, What must he think when his father died? Is he too young to realize Exactly why a nation cries? We cry because we mourn his Dad— Our president.—It's all too sad To think of what the world has lost And just how much our freedom costs. Some say his song was just half sung— His world peace policy much too young Fully to survive the bitter strife That angered one to take his life. Now his death can't let us cease To work to gain his wish for peace. But—this mighty man lies SLAIN! How can we help but feel deep pain? We must accept this as God’s Will, Be brave, and face the future.—Still We vividly see that day in November As a small son’s tribute we'll long remember. loyal citizens . . . One week before his tragic death, President Kennedy staged a surprise visit to the annual National Catholic Youth Organization convention. Throughout his presi- dential administration, Mr. Kennedy expressed his interest and love for us—the country’s youth. Gerald Burke, Maureen O’Neill, Claire Rauscher, and John Kavaliunas pause to admire the draped portrait of our late President John F. Kennedy. When word was received that President Kennedy had been assassinated, the students were at a football rally. Immediately the atmosphere changed into one of silence and sadness, and the students ’at the request of Msgr. Lucitt and Sister Mary Carmel, led by Father Beebe, recited the Rosary for the repose of his soul.
