% SISTER MARY CARMEL, O.P. Principal During the past school year we, the students of Gloucester Catholic have experienced deep feeling of appreciation and ad- miration toward Sister Mary Carmel, our principal. With the passing months we have found Sister possessing such qualities as an over abundance of generosity and an ever- readiness to attain the utmost for the students. We may be as- sured that she is eager and more than capable to assist us during a period of uncertainty. When she was confronted with disillusion- ing circumstances we have seen every virtue exemplified by her judgments. Her personality is sparkled by an undying sense of humor and an understanding expressed by a warm smile. At present we cannot be conscious of the influence her guid- ance will have when reaching our goals. However, she will be well present in our memories as a person with whom there is no comparison. Thank you, Sister Mary Carmel, for your extreme efforts to enrich us and for introducing to Gloucester Catholic a wonderful new life. The end of the day is never complete without some announcements from Sister Mary Carmel, our prin- cipal- 8

RT. REV. MSGR. EDWARD B. LUCITT SHINE WITH A NEW HOLINESS. 9 Since the first days of its infancy, Gloucester Catholic has been a co-educational institution. Its workableness was practical: its effectiveness outstanding; its achievements notable; but its de- sirableness was questionable. Our beloved Pope John XXIII expresses his desire to see an entire system of co-institutional education throughout the parochial school system, wherever feasible. In compliance with the Pope’s wishes, our esteemed pastor and administrator, Msgr. Lucitt broke the tradition of co-education, so long prevalent at Gloucester Catholic. His ability to comprehend the future needs points to Monsignor’s forward-looking spirit. Msgr. Lucitt, priest among men, a leader among leaders, has earned our gratitude for his personal interest and continuous support of our needs. We, the Class of 63, extend to Monsignor our deepest love and appreciation for a job well done. Msgr. Lucitt is very happy over the basketball victory against Pennsauken, and is telling C. McGovern all about it. 7
