POWDER PUFF FOOTBALL GAME One for the money, two for the--?? June 24. . . Surrounded by cheering fans the monstrous players approached their positions for the KICK-OFF of the annual Powder-Puff football game at six o'clock. The din became almost unbearable as the dainty cheerleaders led the rooters in precisioned yells. The coaches' fingernails became shorter and shorter as the folly progressed. ln an ecstasy of rage the refined yellsters displayed hostility among themselves, bringing everyone to the edge of their rocky ledges. Anticipation could be seen in the eyes of the crowd as the crowning of the new Powder-Puff Queen approached. The judges' decision was made even more difficult because the four finalists were undoubtedly the elite of the campus due to their poise and beauty. Patience wore thin, exhaustion prevailed and each player, coach, cheerleader, and fan knew beyond any doubt that they had shared in high-lighting the first six weeks at Glorieta. Cheerleaders for the Lilies of the Field were Representing the victorious Maulers were a stylish, enthusiastic and even rambunctious. figured group of lovelies.

I f Q. ye iz to ,, ' ' f Wendell Price, Clyde Ross, and Enthusiasm ran high and participation gripped everyone as a really Marcia Hearn entertained in the good time got into full swing. hootenanny-Glorieta style. july 8. . .Hack Stinkbetter, alias Bob Kilgore, from the Sunday School Board in Nashville emceed the famous Glorieta Hootenanny. Staffers and guests enjoyed a variety of selections from foreign folk songs by Claire Nussbaum to folk songs of the Civil War by Ken Barousse, Mary james, and Ann Rogers. Wendell Price, Carole Monroe, and Madeline Lemon thrilled the audience with Banua . jan Humphrey, Beverly Strealy, and Barbara Morgan voiced the beautiful folk legend Mandy in an euphonic three-part harmony. A subtle hush fell across the group when Marcia Hearn sang Maria . Sing Along with Le lla time brought fun in participation for the audience. Bob Kilgore's rendition of Amen left the staffers with a lilting melody in their minds for many weeks to come. july 9-10. . . Staffers donned their cowboy duds and went to the Rodeo de Santa Fe. Nine bus loads of staffers thrilled to the sights of bucking broncs and bull riding, barrel racing and calf roping. The Southern Belle Saddlers from Colorado, fbetter known to the staff as the Side Saddle Sallys j the Santa Fe Posse, and the famous Flying Cimmarrons exhibited their riding skill after the announcer introduced the rodeo royalty and dignitaries. The excellent display of stock and skill caused excitement and enjoyment to ride high for all thestaffers. A patriotic salute to the colors and the Rodeo de Santa Fe moved into high gear before the intent eyes of staffers who attended.
