POWDER PUFF FOOTBALL GAME One for the money, two for the--?? June 24. . . Surrounded by cheering fans the monstrous players approached their positions for the KICK-OFF of the annual Powder-Puff football game at six o'clock. The din became almost unbearable as the dainty cheerleaders led the rooters in precisioned yells. The coaches' fingernails became shorter and shorter as the folly progressed. ln an ecstasy of rage the refined yellsters displayed hostility among themselves, bringing everyone to the edge of their rocky ledges. Anticipation could be seen in the eyes of the crowd as the crowning of the new Powder-Puff Queen approached. The judges' decision was made even more difficult because the four finalists were undoubtedly the elite of the campus due to their poise and beauty. Patience wore thin, exhaustion prevailed and each player, coach, cheerleader, and fan knew beyond any doubt that they had shared in high-lighting the first six weeks at Glorieta. J jackie Hipp and friend Jerry ACTIVITIES Spirit of the living God was emphasized by many activities of the staffers throughout the summer. Introducing this exciting phase of Glorieta was a colorful talent show in Holcomb Auditorium. Next the staffers donned their sweat shirts, blue jeans, and sturdy hiking shoes as they prepared for a western cookout. Still another week brought the coming of the powder-puff football game-this change of events was certainly a highlight in the minds of all, whether they were spectators or participants. The first six week's activities ended with a hootenanny and an exciting trip to the Santa Fe Rodeo. The last half of the assembly's activities began with an inspiring presentation of the play, Five Small Windows of Christmas , directed by Le lla Snider. The following week proved to be just as enjoyable as the Shakespearean staffers of Glorieta presented their hilarious version of Oklahamlet . Then came the Christmas in july party when the staff entertained wide-eyed, excited children of the Santa Fe Baptist Indian Mission. The Mexican touch was taken into Santa Fe for a delicious supper at La Cocina. One of the last parties enjoyed by staffers was the barbeque cookout held in the field below New Mexico Hall. The old Glorieta Chuck Wagon and western style clothes set the atmosphere for this event. As the staffers participated in these and other activities, they were always conscious of the presence of God in the midst of them. The staffers were in a true spirit of the living God as they listened in- tently to Mrs. Dickson's closing devotional. 75
