499' 1 W ' ,xigg Q' .,1,.,v ,, Frank, Larry and Mike talk to Judge Dawson about his county position. Beverly and Jeannie listen to Mrs. Phillips explain the work of County Supervisors. Exciting Days to ebruary 15, 1985, in Mike, Frank and Larry boarded their bus to begin their journey into government. Every morning the boys woke up at 6:30 a.m. to go to conventions to listen to speakers such as Rose Mofford, a former graduate of G.H.S. They ran for offices on the city, coun- ty and state levels. Recrea- tion was also part of their day. The boys said the value of the trip was increasing their knowledge of govern- ment while meeting people and having fun. June 3, 1985, Jeannie, Beverly and Arvella headed to U of A for Girls' State. On arrival, they unpacked and went to their first meeting to elect council and learn how to hold city meetings. The schedule of events was running for offices, par- ticipating in pep rallies and watching a murder trial. Jeannie said, The reason l went was to experience government first hand so l would understand it more.
