Glenn Holmes October 21, 1930-July 3, 1987 Under the guidance and direction of Glenn Holmes, The Glenwood School was founded in 1981 by a group of dedicated parents, staff, trustees, and friends. Her tragic death on July 3, 1987, which was caused by a drunken driver, aroused the indignation and anger of the Dallas Community. lt seems almost impossible that one whose life had been such a positive influence on literally hundreds should meet death in such a violent way. Glenn was dedicated to making this a better world for children. It was this mission that gave her the courage and stamina to undertake the founding of an independent, private, non-profit school. The Glenwood Difference espouses a phi- losophy that, while backed by volumes of re- search, is not in general use in schools across the country. ln addition to a soundly based instructional program, the school was dedi- cated to making its environment a warm, lov- ing, caring place for children and staff. It has become a place where healthy self-confidence and the development of a positive self- concept, through successful experiences, are fostered along with academic excellence. The students and activities in this yearbook represent the fulfillment of Glenn Holmes' vi- sion. We proudly dedicate this yearbook to her memory. MEMORIAL 3
