F 0 R E W 0 R D By thumbing through me, the 1965 SPYGLASS, and a few of my predecessors, you can see a yearly record of the growth of Glenwood High as a school. No little hick school is Glenwood, my pages loudly proclaim. Look! Even my brand-new cover shouts of Glen-wood's modern ideas. And next year I promise that I and the school I represent shall be even bigger and better. This year I welcomed several new teachers, courses, and clubs to our growing school. Even many of the big citified schools cannot boast of an all-school musical such as the one industrious Glenwood students and teachers put on in the spring. One of the nicest new things to happen to Glenwood this year, however, was the large trophy cases which seemed to light up the hall with the many trophies won by our athletes this year and in years past. Glenwood students also became familiar with the many exhibits it contained. Remember the one which gave us an introduction to our friend Jose Perez and his native land of Chile? No one can accuse Glenwood of being left in the nineteenth century. If any one does try though, just say, Maybe you'd like to take a look at my 1965 SPYGLASS. I think it may change your opinion. We're very proud of Glenwood! 2

S UPERINTENDENT WILLIAM D. HO VET Congratulations to the Class of 1965. It hardly seems possible that another school year has gone by. Each year seems to go by a little faster than the one before. Is this a sign of old age? If so, remember, you will have the same experience. In 1980, old age, your yearbook will become a real treasure-house of experiences. You will find yourself taking a long look through the back issues of the SPYGLASS and recalling all those happy, eventful days that you spent in the halls of Glenwood. Especially interesting will be those pictures of the old flame, your best friends, athletic events, proms, and your favorite teachers. Best wishes for health, success, and happiness in the years to come, and re-memberthat your old teacher may still be around in 1980 reminiscing through his SPYGLASS. 4
