L.. gpm to walk Wh1le walklng down the street we not1ced a myster1ous lookmg person 1n blue dragg1ng a man 1n one hand and a club 1n the other And who should xt be but Janlce McDan1e1s 1n a pol1cewoman's unlform She had Just arrested Walterlmes for Jaywalkmg She let us understand that lt was Walter s second offence or she would not have been so severe Upon leavlng Jan1ce we not1ced acloud of smoke dr1ft1ng down the Street We were curlous so we stayed to see what lt was When the smoke cleared there stood our old frlend and compan1on Weed em more Weddmgton ow the owner of K1ng Wayne world famous c1gar Company Around the corner was the off1ce of the New Boston T1mes World s largest newspaper whxch was run by Charles Martln He got h1s start way back 1n 1951 as a newsboy for the Portsmouth T1mes Upon leav1ng the off1ce we were attacked and lassoed by a bunch of redheaded hoodlums We called for help and who was to come but thezr Aunt June May We talked to June and found out that she had gxven up her college career to be a housew1fe When we fmally left June s house or should we say escaped the f1rst people we ran mto were Bob Adams and Russell McManus who were push1ng two baby carrlages down the street Bob and Mac told us they had settled down and were marr1ed after they graduated Golng down the street we came upon a large super market wh1ch had just been con structed We enteredto f1nd Ralph Campbell manager It was an1ce after noon so we dec1ded to go to the races and who was dr1v1ng a rac1ng car but Gerald Cornwell who had been speedxng s1nce he got h1s motor b1ke back 1n 1951 We dec1ded to have our p1ctures taken and who do you thmk was the photographer? You guessed It Don Dan1els F1ve hours later they were f1n1shed and as we were leav1ng who should be enter1ng but Bern1ce Dotson Bermce had been work1ng for Don as a model Farther up the street we saw a strange lookmgsxght a couple were hold1ng hands beh1nd a telephone pole It was Beatrlce Sm1th and Bob F1nney Beatrlce mformed us Bessle Floyd had settled down and found a true love We stopped at the Oh1o Theatre to f1nd that Janet McDan1el now owned IE and Jerry Lew1s was sellmg popcorn Janet told us that Joyce Gr1ff1n was now runn1ng a school for speech and was dO1ng very well Janet Schwable and Phyllxs Redwzne were her pr1ze pup1ls Barbara Jennmgs was Joyce s assxstant It was a very hot day so we dec1ded to stop at the daxry bar for 1ce cream and found Wanda Weaver, now Mrs Douglas Arthurs putt1ng up a new s1gn for Paul Porter who was now operatlng the dalry bar Paul told us that George Staten was 1n M1ch1gan gett1ng h1s new tags for h1s car and Kelly Phlpps was manager of the Restaurants for the New Boston branch ofU S Steel Our furlough belng over we left toreturn to France for our next ass1gnment wlth the Forelgn Leglon Don Bowl1ng Elmo Buckle Q, , iiI'.lMF'l 7 f 3' my ' v , - - n vu , . .
