I ,J 1 .I J 5 v 'ta by 9 o p 'W' WA A , 22' copv BoY ' 5 1 yziizg 0 ' X W Q xr The old town of New Boston hadnt changed much IH twenty years Ideclded to return to my home town after recelvlng my dlscharge from the Marme Corp w1th leav1ng the traln I saw two of my boy frlends from the class of 50 They were Nate Ph1pps and Don Sexton We must have created qulte a scene 1n the stat1on w1th our hand shakmg huggmg eachother and our loud talkmg We dec1ded to eat breakfast together Whlle eatlng breakfast Don told me that he and Nate were operat Lng a large researchfoundatlon They had declded to take a vacat1on as they had been worklng day and nlght ln order to keep up wzth the1r competltor Donna Sherrdan and B111 Spears l was gladly surprlsed to hear Dave Staten had become qulte weal thy and that he IS now owner of the Curly Wave Set Co Dave used the same form ula on hms halr 1nh1gh school Other rumors were that James Grner and W1ll1s Adams had become lady klllers And that Norma Armstrong stxll has the des1re for other g1rl s boyfrlends We then rented a car and deczded to see the town Our f1rst stop was our hlgh school hang out The Amer1can Restaurant lt IS stlll called Joe s but not Joe Day s It IS now called .Toe Payton s The restaurant was rather deserted as everyone was at the local theater We thought that the show must be pretty good to attract everyone so we de clded to go We purchased our tlckets only to have them taken by Mary .To Stapleton Mary J'o always d1d have an lnterest ln the ushers there We arrlved durmg the comedy wh1ch was Mlghty Mouse star rmg V1rg1l Holslnger Next came the news 1n whxch we saw W1blur Pence playa manager of the Cleveland Browns Next came a dr1v1ng demonstratxon by Ruth Hoover Ruth was the only g1rl1n the class of 50 wlth drlvlng llcense At last the ma1n feature The Return of May West starrlng Marcella Bow11ng Emshw1ller Marcella IS stlll as beautlful as ever At tlmes durxng the show the camera man seemed to go w1ld he was none otherthan Paul Ruark Paul wasn t the only one that went wlld after seemg the show four t1mes we had to drag Nate from the theater After leavlng the show we declded to dr1ve around for awhzle but f1rst we needed some gas We stopped at the Ash land Gas Stat1on only to f1nd rt owned and operated by Bob Bell asslsted by a 75 cent per hour secretary Helen Evans Bob says that Helen IS st1ll waltxng for a law mak1ng dollar per hour nummum wage as for Helen well It s rumored she has an ad for a husband As we drove out of the gas stat1on we were almost run 1nto bya new Chevrolet whzch was drwen by Pat W1ll1ams now Mrs Charles Fanmn Patty was accompamed by Anna Laura Floyd and Dott1e Ruark Annle 1s alsolookmg for a man Flve Husbands werent enough for her Dottle st1ll has a weakness for red headed boys Whlle dr1v1ng up Gallla we saw many slgns wmth fam1l1ar names on them The frrst slgn was that of Coxey s 1 I x A7 1 ,f 1 1 . fa N f 0 Q I ' 4 ,fv- ,ff 7 f h I ': ' .. , Q' ' ' - az' - 32- 0 as J ' 1, -' Y 1... 7 T . and Sons owned by Don Waggoner his wife the former Zelma Wallace and their five sons Next to that was a studio for graceful fainting instructors were Roberta Bartlett and Roberta Holsinger On a bill board we saw that Ray Montgomerys orchestra was appearing at the localnight club the night club was owned by Odis Fisher The sign was drawn by Virginia Goodman now well known artist La Vonne Evans now owns the swankiest dress shop in town La Vonne was talented in making clothes even in high school Doris .Tones now owns the Greenwich Inn We stopped at the next sign it read Barnes steel workers cafeteria e had the pleasure of eating with the owner Richard Barnes The restaurant was drafty Don told Richard that he should have his air conditioning system checked but when Richard said that Mary Metzler was at the other side of the room we knew the reason for the wind Richard gave us he lowdown on some classmates Charles Pauley is president of Olivet College Mary Pennington is married and living in the hills of Kentucky. Dorothy Keeney is trying to get Bernedia Barnetts job as stenographer at W P A Y. Darrell Williams is announcer there No one has seen Lorneda Schmid but we took it for granted that she also had taken the fatal step and had gone tojoin Mary in Kentucky. Several classmates were now teachers at dear old GHS. Ruth Thompson was teaching music. Oscar Emshwiller and Dick Oakes were the coaches Paul Ruark 'IH' A' ' QC and Marvin Bowling had been riding the coaches pretty hard They couldnt under stand why their boys weren t playing first string Clarice Davis was teaching Home Economics She decided that t o 1 a family wasn t enough teachers after all Matrimony hadn t taken too many Kathryn Lawson didn t intend to let her sisters out do her She nabbed Milbourne Bowling Betty Martin has become a housewife to a boy whom we didn t know Kathryn Nel son is still happily married to Jiggs Por ter After a fine meal and an enjoyable talk we left the restaurant Next on our list was a drive through the country F1 nally we did see some of our old friends of course they were not where we expected to find them rocking comfortably on the porch of the Old Maids Home sat Carol Weaver Rosemary Hook and Sylvla Fout They had done all of their running around in high school and decided to settle down and live a peaceful life We then drove back to Joe s for a milkshake The time had come for us to part Don and Nate were going back to their research work and I arn going home to bed.
