With this in mind, the Annual Staff of G.H.S. has tried to combine the joys, dis- appointments, hopes, and activities of this school year into a pictorial record of memories. We, the Nushka Staff, hope the following pages will recapture the numerous activities that have made the 1968 Nushka possible. GUY BUCHANAN Death is the golden key that opens the palace of eternity We Dedicate We the Senior Class of 1968, do hereby dedicate this edition of the NUSKA to MR. PAUL D. HUGHES. We make this dedication with heartfelt gratitude for the endless number of services which he has rendered to us during the past two years. Mr. Hughes has proven himself a man of quality in-the eyes of the school due to his devotion to the teaching profession. Upon us, his students, he has left the mark of kindness and consider- ation within our hearts. We are confident that he has left and will leave a valuable mark which will serve as a Stepping stone to future generations. By his undying aspiration to help us find our places in life, we have searched a little more, and moved a step forward. With humble appreciation, we echo a resounding “Thanks”. 7 The Measure of A All work dnd no play? Not this group! SECOND ROW: CLASS POEM CLASS MOTTO The measure of a happy life is not from the fewer or more suns we behold, the fewer or more breaths we draw, or meals we repeat but from the having once lived well, acted our part handsomely, and made our exit cheerfully. We, the Freshmen of ’64, Entered Glenwood in the spirit of fun Happy and laughing the days away Until the year was done. Spring passed and fall comes again Oh, how the days do pass As school burdens begin once more And we are in the Sophomore Class. Another year goes by We are Juniors at last More knowledge is gathered in Until this year also joins the past. We, the Class of ’68 Have many memories to entwine Now that the end is near And we must leave dear Glenwood behind. Editing a yearbook is a half-year task for those closely associated with it - the struggle to get the dummy sheets drawn up, and the pictures taken. With deadlines coming too soon for everyone, time is the most expensive thing. Representatives attended a year-book clinic at Lees-McRae College in the spring. At this meeting, the representatives received ideas for producing a yearbook. Without the assistance of Mrs. George Ann Weaver and Mrs. Margaret Norris, our advisors, no annual could be published efficiently. We are very fortunate to have them to fill this capacity. There are now 162 residential uses of electricity to improve your standard of living, and they cost less to operate. Actually the average cost per unit of residen- tial electricity has gone down more than one-third in the past ten years. Check for yourself: Divide the next bill you receive by the number of uses in and around your home. Then you'll see why Reddy’s wage is the biggest bargain in your budget. Much time, as well as hard work, has been carefully given to edit this year’s Nushka. If it serves to keep memories fresh and new throughout the com- ing years, it has carried out its duties as an annual as well as relieved the constant moments of work. I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the individuals who gave their time and their ability to make this annual possible. At times the pressures appeared intolerate and the deadlines hopeless, but in these strenuous moments Mrs. George Ann Weaver and Mrs. Margaret Norris willingly rendered their services. As the pages of the 1968 Nushka are turned, I hope each student can recall some momentous event that will bring back a pleasant memory. I hope this year’s Annual will accomplish this purpose not only in 1968 but also in the years that lie ahead. If this purpose is completed, the work will be relieved, the fun relived, and the 1968 Nushka will live on. Maxine Lawing 100 {+ rem a Oe eee ES RSET ESO - 4 een al —— noeark a.
