Health is the vital principle of bliss; and exercise, of health. Thomson Physical fitness is stressed in the athletic program. Students take physical fitness tests at the beginning of the year and again at the end of the year to measure their progress. A course in health and physical education is required of all ninth grade students. S xccaCCef. IP.I. i. 0( cc€n4, The two main projects of the P.T. A. are sponsoring the school band and the summer recreation program. Officers of the P.T. A. are Jimmy Lawing, president (not pictured); Mrs. Gene Smith, vice-president; Mrs. Bryan Geouge, secretary; and Mrs. Ruth Hawkins, treasurer. The Alumni Association meets biennially. Their most outstanding project is sponsoring a scholarship fund for worthy Glenwood graduates who wish to continue their education. Serving as officers of the Alumni Association are Miss Charline Hemphill, secretary; Mrs. Patricia Greer, treasurer; Ray Dean Arrowood, vice-president; Mrs. Willette Lawing, corresponding secretary and Leroy Suttles, president.
