Perhaps every Senior Class holds dear some teacher who made those early years of school happy and memor- able ones. The teacher who is so endeared and so well remembered is one who has never made teaching secondary to any other endeavor. Teaching to her truly is a Calling from the Master Teacher who set the example of excellency tempered with love. We shall remember her most for encouraging a standard of excellency from each of us according to our vary- ing abilities. In exacting the best from each of us, she was not a taskmaster; she, herself, was such a living example of excellency that each was not satisfied to do less than the best. For this vision of the joys and renumerations of trying our best, we are forever grateful to one of our primary teachers, Mrs. Clara Rayburn, who still helps us to envision the kind of person each of us aspires to be. To Mrs. Rayburn, we simply say: Thanks to thee, Dear Friend, for the lesson thou hast taught . . .

The theme of the p. T. A. this year is Opportunity in Full Measure: The Right of Each Child, The Responsi- bility of Each Citizen. The objectives of the P. T. A. are to promote the welfare of children in home, school, church, and commun- ity, to raise the standards of home life, to secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children, to bring into closer relationship the home and the school, and to develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for every child the highest advantages in physical, mental, social and spiritual education. Projects undertaken this year include the installation of more lights to brighten the campus, the purchase of a new set of American Encyclopedias for the library, a new powermatic wood lathe, and more equipment for the playground. Finances for these projects were provided by the profits from the annual Fall Festival, which is the major fund-raising campaign of the year. 1 4
