The story of beginning a new school life is found within the pages of this book. The ta sk which faced everyone and the success with which it was attacked has placed our entire school population inthe role of leaders. This past year's history is a prologue which offers great promise for the un-numbered students who will be following in your footsteps. Superintendent, Mr. IRWIN EDIE Pioneers are often thought of as people who lived only in ages past, while actually we are un- doubtedly on the verge of greater discoveries to- day then any ofour pioneering ancestors. lt is, therefore, probably fitting that the students of our school can consider themselves as pioneers also. It is not often that an entire body of students can be- come part of such a program and it is to your credit that a successful start has been made of what will become the traditions, customs, and history of Glenville High School. gait - -mst, 7 sz. sgf . .... Camilla Page, her cousin Vivian Page, and their friend Cora Blake share an apartment. The situation becomes des- perate when Alex Lawton calls to inform them that Camilla has won S5000 in a contest for the ideal mother. Stuart Brand is infatuated with Camilla, and like the other two girls hails her a master-mind until her yarn becomes seriously tangled. Speed Martin, an attractive young reporter, tums up to check her stories to the newspapers, for there have been con- flicting angles. Joshua Page enters the scene and an- nounces himself as the husband who deserted his family years ago, now returning to claim part of the prize money. Vivian finally wins Stuart from Camilla, Camilla wins Alex Lawton, and Sadie Stringer walks off with the prize-- Joshua Page , whom she recognizes as her long lost hus- band- -Claudius. Hammersly State Department of Education Chairman oi School Board We, the patrons and friends of Independent Consolidated District No. 145, recognize the importance of the American way of life. In our united effort we wish to promote strength of character, loyalty to our nation, abil- ity to perform a chosen vocation, a sincere respect for the laws of our land, and the desire to live a morally worthy life. Though the walls of this building may in time crumble it is our desire, seasoned with determination, that the high purposes of education will survive in this community. For these ideals we dedicate this building to the youth of our district, to the fathers and mothers, patrons and to every organization whose purpose is to promote educational welfare. May the use of this building and its facilities be characterized with order and dignity. Grover C. Hammersly Lx-I Athletws QI Coach-Mr. Stalker The first year for athletics in the new Glenville High school, as far as victories are concerned, has been disastrous. There are more benefits from athletics than the won-lost column show, though, it is these qualities plus the outlook for next year that I am going to comment on. The boys who came out and stayed out, showed lots of enthusiasm and desire. We received com- ments on the fine sportsmanship and behavior even when losing. I am hoping that the competitive spirit has become part of the individual and that he will do everything in his power to help him become a better athlete and citizen. The outlook for next year is good in that we have everyone back plus a number of eighth graders. It looks like football and baseball will be greatly improved for next season, but because of lack of height, the outlook for basketball is not too bright. In closing, I would like to say that only time will tell how much we will improve in another year, because training by the individual himself is the or1ly way he can improve.
