VV'-S-V- ALMA MATER Alma Mater, our hearts are yours forever; Ancient vict'ries glorify your name; Praise we bring you; our faith we pledge you True and loyal we will ever be. Treasured mem'ries will linger always with us May your torch shine on forevermore. Alma Mater, we’ll cherish your ideals; Near our heart we’ll guard them safely there Truth and honor have blessed your banner; Steadfast courage inspire us always. Alma Mater, spread wide your mantle o’er us Shield and guide us now and evermore. She knew Her lodgers soon would leave Her grounds. But She was also captured by the change That breathed within Her halls a lever strange. With summer there came graduation day, An end of study, and a time for play; New growth, new birth, new goals (or those who part. Yet they'll remember Her within their hearts. So like a breath of wind that roams the sky, The Ancient Spirit waved its last good-bye. DEDICATION So now we see a novel clay begin, And with it There's an old one that must end. The hustling, bustling, crowded, narrow floors Replaced by life's entangled corridors; But when the ivy walls have long since gone, September's colors shower still Her lawn. White petals coat Her lawn in wintertime, As lodgers in Her chambers moved to chime. The treasures in Her midst that She did own, She shared with all the tenants in Her home. Her warmth was such a change from outside's cold, And so a time for learning thus took hold. With spring came hope and new ambitions, too. The realms on which She stood did change their hue; The atmosphere was filled with restless sounds. 2
