1 We Will Never Pass This Way Again The school year of 1976i77 be- gan, as any other, with a slow pace. A constant thought which was on every individuals conscience could easily have been titled The End of the Beginning. Even though it was the end of Glenvar as a high school, it was a new beginning for the Seniors as well as the Underclassmen. The Underclassmen had mixed emotions of the merging of Glenvar and An- drew Lewis into the new Salem High 4 Opening School, The Seniors feelings looked more toward the sentimental side as they realized they would not have an Alma Mater to return to in coming years. Our lives, as students, were so full and they moved so quickly that our minds were on other adventures, rarely hesitating for a glance into the past or a peek into the future. Our theme that we wish to convey through the 1977 Crusader is We Will Never Pass This Way Again. This theme has a surface meaning but if one reaches deeper into his thoughts one can find a truer meaning of these words. Although we know that we may not create the dreams of future Highlanders, we realize that the Glen- var we know consisted of the ac- complishments of past Highlanders and our accomplishments this year. For we know we will truly never pass this way again.

The social studies classes con- ducted a mock election during the week before the national election. As in the national election, Glenvar stu- dents elected Iimmy Carter their President. The football team had a disappointing season but they played with much pride and deter- mination. The Seniors took the field during the half time at the last home football game and with the accom- paniment of our band sang the Alma Mater. As the school year pro- gressed, so did the activities and pro- grams. Each student was left with his special memories of his last year at Glenvar. It is impossible for us to know the personal memories but share with us the activities and programs recorded in the 1976- 1977 Crusader. The personal memo- ries will always be a part of the indi- vidual and hopefully this yearbook will be sharing of all these memo- ries. A Year to Look Back On 1.
