The Glenvar Chapter of the Red Cross Youth had an acitve year. They worked in cooperation with the Red Cross of the Roanoke Valley. The chapter sponsored two blood mobiles. Studenst at Glenvar and residents in the community were in- vited to participate. Another project for the club was Santa calling, This year near Christ- mas students in the club spent an af- ternoon calling some of the small children who attend Pinkard Court School. Each of these children re- ceived a call from 'Santa Claus' and were able to tell him what they wanted for Christmas. They also set up a service so new students could be welcomed and shown around the school by another student. r,. Chapter has Active Year rift? .- X 3 1. Keyettes Have Successful Year 13 The Keyette Club was one of the newest clubs at Glenvar, yet it was one of the most active. The Keyette Club was founded in the summer. It had a total of thirty-eight members. The Keyette motto was 'We Serve' and every Keyette tried to live up to this motto. Every month the Keyettes had a service project. The deadline is WHEN? . . . Someone tell me how to crop a gutter . . . Do headlines go in red or green? . . . I don't have all of my pictures! . . . Somebody has got to take the drinks back . . . Who's gonna bring the Doritos? These are just a few of the crises which daily face a member of the annual staff. It started as prospective staffers tumed in applications and nervously awaited the final decision. Summer meetings were held and ads were sold. Then, down to the busi- ness of that evasive headache - the layout. Getting pictures and words to fit neatly on one page was not as easy as it seemed. Yet out of the has- sle and the hurry, the skipping typewriters and after-deadline lec- tures came a lot of fun and leaming and a kinship between the twenty- one people who worked together so closely. Their combined effort has produced, it is hoped, one of the best annuals Glenvar has had. El LS 'feta Thru Fun and Fusses Annual Staff Succeeds 174 Annual Staff
