Sara Lioi and Jan Shori were chosen to be the GlenOak delegates to Girls' State this summer held at Capital University for one week. The week was spent learning about government by setting up a mock government. Boys' State this year was attended by (standing) Dave Noble. John Schmidt, (sitting) Dave Tiley. and Paul Lioi. The week long program was held at Bowling Green State University and encompassed students from all parts of Ohio. nruoiiNun GlenOak hosted eight exchange students during the past year. They were: Front Row — Glenn Ward from Tasmania. Marita Anderson from Sweden. Maria de Olivieria from Brazil. Andrew Bredin from New Zealand. Gesine Roth from Sweden, and Oliver Rentrop from West Germany. Back Row — Olle Ericsson from Sweden and Neale Ward from Tasmania. W SHOMOTOIN WORKSHOP The Washington Workshops Congressional Seminar was this year attended by Connie Unger. The week long program has stu- dents from across the nation and is held in Washington D.C. Each participant has the opportunity to meet legislators, ambas- sadors. and Presidential advisors through various seminars held on Capitol

OMTO0MAIL MEMT m G= m o yj] Greg Gooding (pictured at left) and David Oakes were named National Merit Scholarship semi-finalists. The competition is based on students scores on the PSAT NMSQT test given to high school students across the country in their junior year. Connie Unger, pictured at right, was one of sixty students chosen from high schools throughout Ohio to participate in the Essex School for the Gifted that is sponsored by the Ohio State Board of Education. The one week seminar took place on the campus and surrounding area of Ohio State University and dealt with programs on various subjects as the arts, sciences, government, environment, and people. NM. C0UIMCOL Fourteen students were chosen to represent GlenOak on Congressman Ralph Regula s Student Congressional Council. The council was composed of four subcommittees that each prepared a report concerning a topic of national interest. The participants were — Row One: JoAnn Schaeublin, Connie Unger, Linda Garrini. Diane Watkins — School Co-Chairperson. Chris DiSiomone. and Maureen McDevitt. Row Two: Carl Knop, Becky Carozza. Michelle Cook. Sara Lioi. Traci Tidwell. Anthony Lopez, and Paul Lioi. Absent: Dave Tiley — School Co Chairperons.
