is '1 gx 3 QQ' ., F. FHA We the officers and members of the GlenOak Future Homemakers of America chapter feel that the main purpose of F.H.A. is to help other people as much as we possibly can. But at the same time to have fun working together and to share our ideas with each other. We meet new people and learn to respect their values. fThese experiences have en- riched everyone of us the club.J. As a club we have involved people in the community in many of our activities. Such as having a party for children at a day-care center. i . c 2.- , ' ' y 4' . ,lf A 5- P 1 si ' I .Qaa . ' 'Ns . , -L - .sg -h. - if-Q -- Cosmetology refers to the scientific study and practice of beauty culture. Not only does it mean washing and styl- ing the hair, but it also includes caring for the hands, arms and face. We are taught to bleach, frost, tint, cut, permanent-wave and style the hair. We also learn to give manicures, facials, mud-packs, eyebrow arches, and hand and arm massages. Cosmetology is not all fun and games. We study anatomy and physiology of the body. We must learn the bones, muscles and motor points of the head, face and arms. The diseases of the scalp and nails are also of great importance. During our junior year we learn the techniques and skills required to be a successful beautician. Our senior year is spent working in a shop at school. When a student has finished 1500 hours, she is qualified to take the State Board of Cosmetology exam. When she passes the exam, she can immediately begin work in a beauty shop.
