DEDICATION i m M r Mm w ■■u m ' m •; ■■■ The Glenn Pirate Staff dedicates the 1960 annual to the memory of Mr. William Vickers who died suddenly last February with a heart attack. Mr. Vickers was born February 17, 1907, in West Terre Haute, Indiana. He graduated from Valley High School in 1926 and enrolled at Indiana State Teachers College the following year. Having received teacher training, he taught at Sandford, Indiana, for three years. Then he went to New Goshen to be principal of the grade school. During his stay at New Goshen Mr. Vickers married Marjorie Stewart. To this family were born two sons, Donald and Stewart. In 1943 Mr. Vickers left the teaching profession to go into Civil Service employment. He was trained at Picatin- ney Arsenal in New Jersey. Then he was with the Vigo Ordinance Plant until he entered the army in 1944. He was sent to the European Theater for active duty in November of that year. After the war Mr. Vickers returned to I.S.T.C. for further education. He earned his Master of Science degree in 1948. At Glenn Mr. Vickers was an active sponsor of classes, clubs, and athletics. In addition to these he carried a full teaching load. He was never too busy to give a helping hand or an encouraging word. Students and faculty alike mourn his departure. With grateful and nostalgic hearts we humbly dedicate ■} our efforts to his memory. •; Glenn still loves you, Mr. Vickers. r m M i
