0 GLENN VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL Birmingham, Alabama Seasons toll by nd With each day comes the knowledge and diearns which will guide our lives in the fumre years. I very season, every lime issues it own particular emotions, activities, characteristics. We grow as we learn. Memories of these seasons are etched on out hearts to bring in years to come warm surges of emotions as we think of the year gone by. In an effort to capture the moods of these seasons the annual staff of the nineteen hundred and muv nine presents.......................Till: Rl BI:L. SCHOOL HISTORY Charles B. Glenn Vocational High School, the first vocational school in Birmingham, was organized in 1930 by Dr. C harles B. Cilenn. Its purpose was to fit each student for industry in the most practical manner possible. In 1943 the school became a four-year accredited high school known as Paul Hayne Vocational High School offering a regular high school diploma along with the Vocational Certificate. In 1952 the school moved to its present forty-acre campus. The name of the school was changed to Glenn Vocational High School in honor of its founder. The school is housed in ten buildings. The shop program, together with the related academic subjects, affords opportunity for the student to learn the basic skills and attitudes and to acquire the technical knowledge which will enable him to move into productive activity with the least amount of lost time and with the most favorable status. Counseling and Guidance at Glenn High School includes the important pupil personnel services of counseling, testing, information. placement and follow-up. The most important service is providing counseling for all pupils—vocational, educational and personal.
