Foreword We have tried to make this volume of THE REBEL a picture story of the life and activities of our school. It is our wish to capture for you the memories of the year 1957-58 so that in future years you may look at this book and enjoy pleasant thoughts of friendships made and kept. It has been our pleasure to present this book; it has been our purpose to give you pleasure. DR. CHARLES B. GLENN For your untiring efforts in behalf of education; for your years of service to the people of our city, our state, and our nation; for your special interest in our school, your namesake; for your love for the youth of Birmingham, Alabama; we, the faculty and the students of the Charles B. Glenn Vocational High School, proudly dedicate our first annual to you. B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Graduate of Harvard University. LL. D. from the University of Alabama; Lit.D. from Birmingham-Southern College. Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent and Superintendent Emeritus of the Birmingham Public Schools. Served as President of the American Association of School Administrators and now holds honorary life membership in that organization. Served os a member of the Survey Commission for Vocational Education, and as a member of the Educational Policies Commission.
