Class History It was exciting for everyone of us on that September day in 1952 as we at last entered the doors of Glenn High School, for we were now freshmen high school students. It was a new exper- ience to meet many new people and to have more privileges in choosing our studies and our classes. This was the beginning of our class. Our freshman year was spent learning the names and faces of our fellow classmates and slaving over English and algebra. There were not too many outside activities for us that year, for most of our time was spent in studying. As we entered our sophomore year, we again settled down to studying, paying class dues, and working on proiects to raise money for the Junior-Senior Banquet. In this year those who were going to lead us and be outstanding in extra-curricular activities and sports began to take their places. Our iunior year was indeed a happy one for there were thoughts of rings and banquets. Again we worked, selling different things, sponsoring singings, dances and other activities to raise more money for the Junior-Senior Banquet. It seemed an eternity before we received our class rings and even longer until that night in April when we, along with the seniors, gathered on the Balinese Roof of the Hotel Robert E. Lee for the Junior-Senior Banquet. lt was not long, though, until we began to practice the Junior Processional for the graduation exercises. At last came our senior year for which we had waited so long. Again we sold candy and Christmas cards, but for a different thing---our senior trip to Washington. There was also much work and studying to do, for we were finishing our high school education. As spring approached, our plans began to take shape, and on the l6th of April we boarded a bus and were on our way to Washington. On the 27th of April we attended the Junior-Senior Banquet. Before we knew it, we were marching down the aisle with our caps and gowns donned to re- ceive our diplomas and to be together for the last time. lt was not altogether a happy moment, for now we would part and go our separate ways into the unknown future. Who could express himself that night? There was joy, sorrow and pride in our hearts, but there was one thing for sure, we would never forget the many days which were spent at Robert B. Glenn High School. CHARLES WALKER, Historian
