gm — North Car Annual Publication : OF THE 1955 SENIOR CLASS OF ROBERT B. GLENN HIGH SCHOOL Foreword On the following pages are memories we cherish. Though there is something that is not captured in these pages and can never be, the love for one another that we shared, the loyalty, the friendship, the happiness, and the sadness, these are the memories which are captured within our hearts as well as on these pages. The exact date is rather hazy, but who had time to remember dates while spell-bound with excitement and wonder at becoming high school freshmen at last! This was the origin of our senior class. We gradually became familiar with all the new faces and began to find our way to classes that never seemed to stay in one place. And then we put on our serious expres- sions and studied hard, mixing in large amounts of gaiety which helped us greatly when the going seemed hard. And thus, we went through our Freshman year. As sophomores we started the year with more spirit. Once again we worked with zest and the ones among us destined to be our leaders began to lead us to what was to become a very bright future. Our Junior year, and what a busy year this turned out to be! The main event for us was the Junior-Senior Banquet. In the spring we worked very hard and turned the gymnasium into a beautiful spring garden, the scene of our banquet. Also in the spring we began prac- )ticing our part of the graduation exercises and on graduation night we were pleased to find that it was not all in vain as we kept our heads high and our feet in step. The arrival of our class rings made us very proud, and indeed we were! Becoming sen- iors was now a reality. Our Senior year came at last. And with it we began to plan for a much hoped for sen- ior trip and our annual. Seeing the need for funds, we began immediately selling Christmas cards, candy, cakes, rummage, and doing many other projects in our spare time between studying, because we were beginning to realize the importance of learning. Spring came once again and with it came the Junior-Senior Banquet which we enjoyed very much. And after this we gaily began our much anticipated trip to Washington. On the return we realized suddenly how near to the end-of all our wonderful times together we were. In no time at all the Baccalaureate Sermon was given and shortly after, on graduation night we received our diplomas, ending our happy moments together, but starting us on our way to bright futures full of various happy plans. Who can express the feeling of joy, sorrow, or pride in our hearts as we, the Seniors of 1955, with memories never to be forgotten, end our school days at Glenn. ANN WORLEY Historian 3 1. D.
