Class Prophecy There had never been a class graduated from Glenmont Htgh l1ke the Class '55 Thts was the New Atomlc Hydrogen Era and I had gone tnto research tn Txllamook Oregon after graduation After ten years I owned my own private atomic helicopter that made two hundred miles an hour and would llght on B nickel I also was entttled to a month s vacatton and I dectded to look up the old Class of 55 So there I go ten years hence headm for the htlls you mtght say I knew Danny Hawkins and jack Fortune were m Callforma so off to Callfornla went I I found jack Fortune at Santa Amta He was runmng tn the fxrst race I mean r1d1ng a horse He was certamly a pretty prcture 1n hrs green satm cap yellow sattn Jacket and red satm rzdmg breeches wlth a purple bow tie and orange boots and gloves It certamly set off has blonde ha1r and blue eyes I sald good bye to jack as they were already off and headed for the Rose Bowl where Danny Hawkins was workmg or playlng as ttme permltted I summer he kept the seats dusted and m wmter he swept snow except on New Year s Day when he played trumpet rn the band He was also a water boy and sure kept htm busy changmg from band umforrn to water boy outfmt One tlme he forgot to set the bucket down and had a terrrble trme playmg trumpet w1t.h bucket on hls arm Danny said Robert Sma1l was ln Mexico and David Bower ln Wyoming I went to Mexxco flrst and found Robert Small under a blg hat He had a job demonst proper ways to take sxestas He had a cute ltttle mustache and was alwavs getting lnvlted to dmner lbetween sxestasl by lovely senorltas prxsed to fmd htm m Guernsey Wyommg he always had a craze for Guernseysl He had a small ranch wtth a small herd of about 1509 Guernseys and was also presxdent of a rattlesnake meat canmng factory When he showed me the Guernseys I looked but when determmed to show me the factory I left I went on to Omaha Nebraska to see Joanne Young She was a jumor partner in a law firm there namely Olde Olde Olde and Young Joanne had just fmtshed her frrst case and won so she was all smiles She said she had never thought of marrtage but hoped she would by the time she was seventy frve She figured according to cases the ftrm handled seventy fwe was the best time for marrxage because tt dldn t leasve much time to fight I left joanne and pointed my little I-Ielltrope Ithat s what I called my hell opterl towards Boise Idaho to see L.ewxs N mmay He was a fxmous brain surgeon at the Mondey Forest Loo Hospital there He had always wanted tu know why men acted l1ke monkeys but hadn t learned why as yet After watch mg hxm do me a perfect imxtatwn of a monkey eatmg a peanut I left Lewts and flew to Chtcago where I heard joan Cooper was at that ttme joan Cooper had gone to work as assistant to a hon tamer in a circus and after the lion ate the hon tamer s w1fe joan married her boss just as she was about to lose her nead joan qmt the racket and settled down to keeping house in thexr quaint little red and yellow traxlers She sa1d good bye tearfully as she knew my next stop was good old Glenmont and she was homesick When I reached Glenmont I found Vxrgima Butler buymg salami at Schopfer a grocery When she recognized me she gtggled I went home w1th her for awhile, She said her husband was at Brxar H111 and her four ltttle gtrls giggled as shg shooed them off the table and piano She told me where I could flnd john Gary and Larry Icont d on page 20, .V . of , . v i , I . , . .
