flass History Looklng back over the events Wh1Ch have taken place ln our twelve years of school we are confronted wlth a varlety of memorles On a brlght sunny mornlng ln 1943 twenty flve bashful chlldren started ln the flrst grade at G H S They were Gary Alllson Sue Barnes Davld Bower Jenny Butler Joan Cooper Sally Dldlnger Shlrley Faler Danny I-Iawklns Jack Holland Elaine Johnson Dean Klnsey Ruth Ann Martln Jeanne McFadden Janet Mellor Betty Mlller Lewls Nommay Yvonne Phllllps Carol Rhodes Aaron Schopfer Raymond Shrlver Albert Small Jr Robert Small Noel Utterback Bev Wllson Joanne and John Young Our teachers were Mrs Starner and Mrs Kllnger Our second year was under the teachlng of Mrs Starner The followlng dldn t come back to Joln us Shlrley Dean Ruth Ann Jeanne Betty Yvonne Aaron Junlor and Raymond We galned Basll Dawson and Forest Rldenbaugh The glrls blggest lnterest durlng that year was playlng wlth dolls Mrs Brown was the teacher who kept a watchful eye over us ln the thlrd grade Thls year the followlng came to Joln our happy llttle group Charles Gunea Sammy Klnsey Rudy Mellor Gerald Purdy Denver Rldenbaugh Loulse Sampson and Claude Small We lost Noel In the fourth grade Mrs Brown and Mrs Mltchhart had thelr hands full trylng to keep thlngs peaceful Denzll Tucker and Jack Fortune jolned us thls year Hey k1dS was thls the year a certaln muslc teacher made some of us put gum on our noses and In the flfth and slxth grade the one who had the mlsfortune of belng our teacher was Mlss Fltes The followlng Jolned us ln those two years Jean Parsons and Larry Martln We 19st Charles Remember the blg battle we had that year between one of our former students and the teacher ? If I remember rlght thls was the year the glrls spent a good deal of thelr tlme slttlng ln the closets talklng It was okay untll we got caught In the seventh grade our teachlng was under Mr Van Horn Mr Kershner Mr Bash and Mr Roberts That year we lost Gerald Claude Basll Jack and Loulse Waldemar Brzezlckl came from Poland to joln us Durlng thlS year I don t thlnk the boys were ever where they were supposed to be If you wanted to flnd them you could usually look for them ln the gym playlng basketball On that hayrlde we heard there was a lot of smoke There must have been lndlans around., Waldemar and Jean dld not come back to joln us ln the elghth grade All the rest of us were able to make lt back Was thls the year a certaln glrl learned the hard way that It IS better not to wrlte ln other people s note books 'P We also had a Chrlstmas party that year Our teachers were Mr Bash Mlss Brumme Mr Roberts and Mr Van Horn Startlng ln the nlnth grade we stlll had Forest Sally Gary Dave Sue Lewls ack Robert Danny Joanne John Elalne Jenny Beverly Joan Denver Rudy Larry Janet Carolyn and Tom Glrls do you stlll like apples celery and carrots ? We should have got our tlll of them ln Home Economlcs Class And was thls the year some glrls got detentlon for sklpplng study hall?
