A n Q , , . s Class Prophecy There had never been a class graduated from Glenmont Htgh l1ke the Class '55 Thts was the New Atomlc Hydrogen Era and I had gone tnto research tn Txllamook Oregon after graduation After ten years I owned my own private atomic helicopter that made two hundred miles an hour and would llght on B nickel I also was entttled to a month s vacatton and I dectded to look up the old Class of 55 So there I go ten years hence headm for the htlls you mtght say I knew Danny Hawkins and jack Fortune were m Callforma so off to Callfornla went I I found jack Fortune at Santa Amta He was runmng tn the fxrst race I mean r1d1ng a horse He was certamly a pretty prcture 1n hrs green satm cap yellow sattn Jacket and red satm rzdmg breeches wlth a purple bow tie and orange boots and gloves It certamly set off has blonde ha1r and blue eyes I sald good bye to jack as they were already off and headed for the Rose Bowl where Danny Hawkins was workmg or playlng as ttme permltted I summer he kept the seats dusted and m wmter he swept snow except on New Year s Day when he played trumpet rn the band He was also a water boy and sure kept htm busy changmg from band umforrn to water boy outfmt One tlme he forgot to set the bucket down and had a terrrble trme playmg trumpet w1t.h bucket on hls arm Danny said Robert Sma1l was ln Mexico and David Bower ln Wyoming I went to Mexxco flrst and found Robert Small under a blg hat He had a job demonst proper ways to take sxestas He had a cute ltttle mustache and was alwavs getting lnvlted to dmner lbetween sxestasl by lovely senorltas prxsed to fmd htm m Guernsey Wyommg he always had a craze for Guernseysl He had a small ranch wtth a small herd of about 1509 Guernseys and was also presxdent of a rattlesnake meat canmng factory When he showed me the Guernseys I looked but when determmed to show me the factory I left I went on to Omaha Nebraska to see Joanne Young She was a jumor partner in a law firm there namely Olde Olde Olde and Young Joanne had just fmtshed her frrst case and won so she was all smiles She said she had never thought of marrtage but hoped she would by the time she was seventy frve She figured according to cases the ftrm handled seventy fwe was the best time for marrxage because tt dldn t leasve much time to fight I left joanne and pointed my little I-Ielltrope Ithat s what I called my hell opterl towards Boise Idaho to see L.ewxs N mmay He was a fxmous brain surgeon at the Mondey Forest Loo Hospital there He had always wanted tu know why men acted l1ke monkeys but hadn t learned why as yet After watch mg hxm do me a perfect imxtatwn of a monkey eatmg a peanut I left Lewts and flew to Chtcago where I heard joan Cooper was at that ttme joan Cooper had gone to work as assistant to a hon tamer in a circus and after the lion ate the hon tamer s w1fe joan married her boss just as she was about to lose her nead joan qmt the racket and settled down to keeping house in thexr quaint little red and yellow traxlers She sa1d good bye tearfully as she knew my next stop was good old Glenmont and she was homesick When I reached Glenmont I found Vxrgima Butler buymg salami at Schopfer a grocery When she recognized me she gtggled I went home w1th her for awhile, She said her husband was at Brxar H111 and her four ltttle gtrls giggled as shg shooed them off the table and piano She told me where I could flnd john Gary and Larry Icont d on page 20, .V . of , . v i , I . , . . Class Prophecy tfonfdb I was onlv a few m1nutes arrlvlng at john Young s farm where he was having an after noon nap He got up reluctantly and showed me around the place a llttle He had crossed cherries wxth seedless ralslns to ra1se seedless cherrles He was dolng well and had get back to his plovnng I decxded to go flrst to see Sue Beverly and Elalne and stop ln to see Mr Bash on the way back Sue Barnes was marrled and llvlnw ln a cute llttle seventeen room bungalow ln Klllbuck She had tw1n gxrls who wanted to be cheerleaders but she was havlng trouble with thexr wantlng to yell red and wh1te Instead of black and gold Her two boys were playlng Indlans wh1ch had Sue almost to a frustratlon polnt I left soon because I had a long way to travel I went to Kentucky f1rst Larry Martin was a tough Sergeant ln the army at Fort Knox He became tough when he couldn t joxn the Wacs when he enllsted He decided lf he could n t be with the glrls he could at least be near the gold at Fort Knox I didn t hang around long because he was getting ready to do h1s laundry My next stop was Nashlngton D C Beverly Wilson was there She had always wanted to l1ve ln Washlngton D C slnce she played the governor s wxfe ln the junlor class play and there she was She was the Presxdent s w1fe The Preszdent of the Atomic Comlc Corporation that is She wanted me to stay for lunch so I decided to do so The hot dogs were dellclous I knew Gary Alllson would be golng on hls television show that evenlng and 1f I want tower and parachuted down to the studlo where Gary had the lead in a show playlng once a week It was called Gary Berry and Harry All Love Mary He played Mary s butler He was sensatlonal I thought It was real cute when he sa1d I have to empty the cuspxdor then set It on the floor behind the door where It don t show no more I hated to leave the show but I still had to see Elalne over ln Brooklyn Shortly after graduat1on Blame johnson had heard that the Brooklyn Bridge was being sold cheap and she had saved enough to get there and fifteen dollars besides so she went to see about 1t She couldn t find the owner of the brxdge so she got a Job at a f1ll1ng statxon changxng txres She was soon advanced to changmg oil also and 1n two years owned the station QShe marned the owner Shows you can do a lot w1th fxfteen dollars 1n Brooklyn That was my class I felt real happy but my vacat1on wasn t complete wlthout having seen Mr Bash It was August and when I ht at hls farm and haxled Mr Bash I found my self halfway up a raspberry row wlth twelve berry baskets on my arm I didn t run lnto him agam until I had reached the end of the row I explaxned that I had just dropped ln to say I-I1 and tell him where my classmates were He looked nappy and healthy and 1nc1denta1ly I made Sl Z0 plckxng raspberries I also had a b1g bowl of berr1es wlth cream and sugar I hated to leave but I knew by the txme I reached Tillamook Oregon I only had time for a good night s sleep before my vacation ended I saxd Good bye to Mr Bash and told h1m I d try to get back next year to pxck raspberrles My .facatxon proved to be the most wonderful I had ever had Marcella Dldmger . . . . . . 5. . to ,. u . . y I . , , ed to see him I had to hurry. These people pictured above are solely responsible for bringing you this handsome 1955 Indian. I must though, extend my thanks to a few other members of the Senior Class who helped in the processing. I feel as though l got very good co- operation from my Annual Staff and I wish to thank them. Mr. Kershner was certainly a wonderful auxiliary and advisor. To give you a hint of what each member ofthe staff had to do, I will give you a brief sketch. I, The Editor, had to oversee the whole thing and tell the members of the staff what I wanted done and how. My Assistant Editor was Sue Barnes. She was a great aid in helping me plan the Annual, overseeing and also doing a little typing. My Business Manager was Elaine johnson. I think she would be a very good Secretary of the Treasury. She did a fine job by writing the checks for our bills and collecting the money for the Annuals sold. My Layout Editor was Virginia Butler. jenny got sort of harsh at times, when I made her rip off an uneven picture or a blurred one. I must say, however, that she was very co-operative and did an excellent job. My Sports Editors were David Bower and Gary Allison. It took awhile to get them broken in. They had quite a time getting the schedule and the number of games won and lost. But they did fine for amateurs. My Art Editor was Marcella Didinger. I owe a lot of gratitude to Sally for her remarkable work. She drew all of our divider pages and the decors free hand. She made our annual very attractive, I think. My Feature Editors were Larry Martin and john Young. They wrote the dedi- cation and pinch-hitted wherever necessary. Last but not least was our Advisor, Mr. Kershner. I ,X-sf- K --nzwm., -1 Home-Coming The evening got started ny seat- ing of last year's Queen, Virginia Owen and this year's Queen's little crown bearer, Debbie McCoy. Next came the parade ofthe honor guards, band, Oueen, Sally Didingerg and her Senior Attendant, joanne Young in a Buick convertible and in a Mercury Karen Mitchhart, junior Attendantg Marilyn Nommay, Sophomore Attendant, and Betty jean Simmons, Freshman Attendant. As the parade went around the field and Came on tothe field, the Queen and her court were met by their escorts. The Queen's escort was Football Captain Gary Allison, and the others were Z6 MARCELLA PEARL, DIDINGER Senior escort, Lewis Nommaygjunior escort, Bill Clark, Sophomore escort, Bob Kinsey and Freshman escort, Larry Buren. The Queen was then crowned by las ye-ar's Oucen while the band formed an aisle, Queen Sally was thc-n presented the football by Cary and a good lurk kiss, too. The flaq raising was in order, and as the majorvttes pledged their salute, the band played The Star Spangled Banner. They won all three games they played to become the tournament champions. The teams participating were: Millersburg, Clark, Nashville, Berlin, Killbuck, and Big ' Prairie. The Indians were presented with a gold baseball trophy. C LASS HISTOR Y qc ont'dI We lost Robert, Carolyn, and Tommy in the Tenth Grade. Bernice Hathaway came to join us. The teachers were Mr. Day, Mr. McCoy, Mr. Bash, and Mr, Kershner, Why were so many kids stiff and sore after the skating party our class had? The highlights of our junior year were the junior-Senior Banquet and our play, Fresh Air. janet decided that married life was better than going to school. During the vear Denver and Rudy left us to join the Marines. Robert Smail came back to join us. Mrs Kaser. lvlr. McCoy, Mr. Kershner, Mr, Day and Mr. Bash were our teachers. The task of teaching us during our Senior year was up to Mr. Bash, Mr. Proper, Mr. Dav, Mr. Kershner and Mr. McCoy. Forest left us to go to Killbuck. Some nf the highlights ol the year were the Halloween Party and Home-coming with Marcella Didiriger reigning as Queen. Our play, The Perfect Idiot and the Ji. iior-Senior Banquet also added to the fun. At the end of the year we hope to take a trip to Washington, D. C, and New York.
