Class Hlstory On a brlght and sunny mornmg IH 1940 twenty two t1m1d llttle boys and glrls started their schoolmg under Beatrlce Starner etter known to us as Mlss Doughty There were twelve boys Ln our class who were as follows Paul Dldlnger Jlm Dlal Kenneth Purdy Claude Small J'1m Shlnabarker Edwln Wallace and Roger Purdy The ten g1rls were Dorothy Young .Tune Bucklew Dor1s Young Wxlma Martm Mary Louxse Strouse Jane W1llard Ida Huffman Shlrley Gllly Mary Katherme Fox ind Dorothy Hunter Through the f1rst exght years Mrs Brown M1Ss Fltes Mr and Mrs Stubbs and Mr Greer lnstructed us I know they were glad to sec us leavc Espec1a1ly Mr Greer After we left hls room he qu1t teachmg ln the fall of 1946 we entered hxgh school wlth the followmg students present .Tune Bucklew Mary Loulse Strouse Dorothy Young Io Ann Banbury Wllma Martm Ruth Kmsey Larry Gray .llm Long Dale Doty Rlchard Small and Paul Dldlnger Later ln the year Dale left our happy llttle throng of twelve to leave s1x glrls and flve boys Nothlng too excltmng happened to us thxs year l guess no one wlll forget some of the thmgs that happened Ln that class Remember the blrthday party we had for Mlss Brumme and left the cook1es fall on the floor? Lucklly no one ever found that out Was th1s the year June embarrassed Mr Greer so badly? No as I recall that was m the exghth grade Has any one ever made known the number of Enghsh teachers we had durmg thls year '7 The enrollment was the same for the Sophomore year Now we worked to make money for our trxp to Washmgton D C and New York Classmates do we stxll llke raw potatoes '7 Maybe we would lf we were Ln Bxology agam suppose By now we were accustomed to hlgh school so we enjoyed ourselves and had many partles As we entered our .lunlor year we st11l had s1x glrls and fzve boys Stlll we were workmg to raxse funds for the trlp The hmghllght of th1s year was our class play GALLOPINC GHOSTS presented on Aprll Z7 1951 Could lt be that .Tune and Rlchard are stxll swmdlmg people? We don t thmk so We used Mr Bash s suggestwn of havmg a chxcken supper Through a lot of hard work mt turned out qutte profltably On May 4 we had a banquet to b1d the Semors farewell and to show them how much we appreclated them Finally we have reached our Semor year Ruth Kmsey got a Job durmg the summer and she falled to come back Agam we have an even number We all surv1ved our trlp and had a joyous time even though JIITI Long dld fall down some steps at the top of the Washmgton monument We heard rumors a few got a httle sea s1ck on the way to the Statue of Lxberty Could be Then one day m November one member of our class left us Ilm Long decxded that he had to work for future plans Glrls was the Loudenvllle falr as great as lt was supposed to be '7 Th1s was our second year our school played football and Mary Loulse rexgned as Homecommg Queen Another member of the class declded to qu1t Larry Gray thought he could do better on the outszde C - P .1 . i .
