An elimination contest was held before the regular high school contest. The high school contest was held Wed- nesday evening, November 3. Mrs. H. S. Freeman of Mobridge was the judge. i' ' John McCallum placed in the oratorical division with a selection by W. H. Upton, NThe Cost of Warng a play by. Percival Wilde, NThe Finger of Godu, given by Blanche Lar- son was placed first in the dramatic divisiong Ervin Dupper reciting 'Gunga,DinU by Rudyard Kipling, was given first rating in the poetry divisiong and nDavid Garrick by T.,W. Robertson, recited by Harley Haakenson was given first rata ing in the humorous division. . The winners of the first place went to Java to compete in the district contest, November 17. Harley Haakenson placed first with his humorous reading. Ervin. Dupper re- cieved an excellent rating in the poetry division, and John McCallum and Blanche Larson each recieved a rating of good. B .
